CHAPTER EIGHTEEN

1022 Words
Hera had gone through lots of horrible times but tonight felt extra horrible. She felt sick to her stomach and she almost couldn't breathe. It wasn't a panic attack this time, it was something else that she couldn't explain. She was sweaty, extra irritable and almost at the point of combusting in a fit of rage. She was currently on the bed, under the covers and she threw the covers far away from her, getting out of bed in a flash. She let out a groan as beads of sweat dripped down her brow. She couldn't explain why she felt so hot and uncomfortable. She couldn't understand why she felt like she was about to combust. Hera let out a pained groan and stalked into the bathroom. Without stripping off her dress, she stepped into the shower and opened the water on to her hair and body. As the water cascaded down her body, She felt a sense of calm and relief wash over her. Finally, she could experience some peace and quiet. After she stayed under the shower for a while, she turned the water off. The moment she stepped out of the bathroom, it felt like her body was on fire and she let out a shrill scream. It felt like a million fire ants feasted on her insides and the feeling was so horrendous, it felt like she was about to go insane. She was sweating profusely now despite the fact that she had just got out of the shower and she felt so stuffy that she thought she could pass out from the heat. She ran straight to the front door and began to hit it as hard as she could. “Let me out of here! Please!” Hera screamed in agony. “Please! Open the door!!” There was no answer from the guards and Hera almost collapsed from the intense pain which seared through her insides. “Please! Let me out! Something's wrong with me! I think I'm dying!” She cried, banging her hands furiously on the door but there was no answer. Tears spilled down her cheeks as Hera sobbed like a child. She was in so much pain and those darn guards acted like they didn't hear her cries. They probably thought she was trying to escape. The pain was so intense that she couldn't even stand. She began crawling toward the window and she sobbed loudly as every contact her skin made with the floor caused her severe pain. Her insides felt so hot like they were on fire and she needed air so she continued crawling toward the window. She almost reached the window when her eyes fell on something peculiar. A full moon. She furrowed her eyebrows. She knew that there was a story about werewolves and how the full moon affected them but she was so delirious with pain and agony that she couldn't even remember. Suddenly, the pain increased by a thousand fold and she felt like her insides were melting. She let out a shrill cry which soon turned guttural and unearthly. Her bones began to break one by one and the sounds of the sickening crunch filled the room. “WHAT THE HELL IS HAPPENING TO ME?!” Hera roared and her voice didn't sound like it belonged to her. It sounded like something monstrous. Something sinister. Something unearthly. The pain was excruciating and Hera cried and yelled as every bone in her body broke and rearranged themselves. Her arms and feet slowly turned to paws and dark fur suddenly started to grow on her smooth and flawless skin. Suddenly, the pain stopped and Hera felt a new and strange sensation wash over her. Her hearing, sight and sense of smell were amplified and she felt a massive surge of power course through her veins. What was this intense and wonderful feeling? She had never felt this way before and suddenly, she had the urge to break out of this prison. She needed to run wild and free. Hera had no idea what was happening to her but she loved every second of it. Without thinking twice, she rushed toward the door and ran through it, breaking it down instantly. The moment she stepped into the passage, her eyes landed on several guards and their eyes were wide with surprise and terror. She could smell the ugly stench of their fear for some reason, the fact that she terrified them inflated her ego and it made her feel really good. Did that make her sick in the head? Maybe. Did she give a s**t? Nope. A snarl escaped her lips and she didn't even know she was capable of making such an animalistic sound. “Why the hell did a wolf just come out of the royal chamber?!” One of the guards yelled and his voice was shaky with fear. “Is that the prisoner?” Another asked. “I have no idea.” Another guard said and their voices were so loud in Hera’s ears that she needed to get out of there immediately. She let out another snarl as she was completely irritated now and the guards took a few steps back. “Attack!” One of them yelled but before they could do anything, Hera leaped over them and ran like hell. She felt caged in this building and she needed to roam free. She ran through different passages and she heard the scream and footsteps of the royal guards behind her but they found it difficult to catch up with her. She was just too damn fast. Hera found her way out of the palace grounds and she ran into the woods, completely losing the guards which were previously on her tail. Instead of feet, her mighty paws slammed the ground as she sped through the woods with a speed as fast as lightning. She felt the wind and trees slam against her face as she moved with such speed and power and once she reached the middle of the forest. She let out a mighty howl. She was free!
