ISOLATIONI ’ d always planned to write an AUTUMN story called KING OF THE DEAD. In it, a typical AUTUMN survivor (i.e. very ordinary and flawed) who ’ d been living a pretty thankless and miserable life, would find their position unexpectedly changed for the better by the zombie apocalypse. The story didn ’ t make the original version of AUTUMN: THE HUMAN CONDITION, but I always intended to go back to it. In 2010 I met with a film director from Colchester, Will Wright, who ’ d seen the AUTUMN movie and who was interested in adapting an AUTUMN story for the screen. I put together a screenplay based on KING OF THE DEAD, retitled it ISOLATION, and we worked on refining the story for a couple of years.
