21STUART WEDNESDAY 15 JULY – 5:14am A noise wakes me up with a start. I sit up and listen, but it ’ s nothing. Probably just an animal... It ’ s nothing to worry about, and I put my head back down. I ’ m three houses down the road from home. Gabby still won ’ t let me back in, won ’ t even talk to me. I have to give her space and time to understand that I did what I had to do, that I did it for them . I keep trying to tell her, but she ’ s just not ready to listen. I stood outside the house yesterday and shouted through the bloody letterbox to try and make her see, but she ’ s too caught up with the events of the last few days to be able to think logically about the long-term.
