Serissa I opened my eyes to find myself lying in my bed, the sheets tangled around my legs, and the incessant knocking on my front door still sending jolts of urgency to my tired brain. There was something I was forgetting, but sleep was still in charge and the dream too vivid for me to want to be in the real world again. I got up, pulled on a robe, and groggily stumbled to the door, still trying to make sense of the dream. That scent! I knew that scent, pine, and earthy, and something deeper, almost primal. It was so familiar and reassuring, but I couldn't quite place it. And he said he loved me. I regretted not saying it back, yelling it out.
