Alpha Ivan’s POV
“Leon, make sure that the warriors know their schedule for the next couple of days whilst we are away. I don’t want anyone taking it as an opportunity to f**k around.” I say, taking a seat behind my desk and opening up my laptop.
“Yes Alpha.” he answers robotically, standing there like an i***t.
Alpha?
Since when did Leon call me Alpha when it was just him and I. I’ve known the guy since we were kids for crying out loud.
“Alright… do you want to tell me why you’re still acting like a sulky little s**t?” I ask, leaning back in my chair and looking at him for answers.
“You know why, Ivan. You rejected my offer to be my son’s Goddess- given parent in front of everyone. How do you think that made myself and Lydia feel?”
“Oh f*****g hell this again? That was ages ago.” I mutter in annoyance, turning my attention back to my computer screen.
“Ivan, it was three days ago.”
I shrug my shoulders and shake my head.
“Whatever. Listen, we have been through this. I told you the reasons why and you’ve now chosen Lydia’s brother and sister in-law now so what’s the big deal?”
“It was a big deal for us! Believe it or not, our unborn kid is a very big deal!!” he says adamantly. “Not everyone is like you, you know that don’t you?”
“Oh believe me, I know.” I say, rubbing my fingers across my forehead.
I’m already sick of this drama.
Like I said before, he’s turned soft and I can’t be assed with this whining right now.
“And another thing… what was that speech all about? I've heard you make speeches in front of hundreds before!! Yet at the wedding it was like watching a car crash! I mean… you ‘hope we don’t get sick of each other?’ You ‘hope we have a nice car’… what the f**k!?”
“Well it’s true… you’re car is a piece of shit.” I mumble pressing a few buttons on the laptop to bring up my overflowing inbox. “Anyway… I’m sick of you now, so why don’t you f**k off and do some work.”
Leon shakes his head as he walks to the door.
“I really wonder about you sometimes! I hope you find a woman who will knock that sarcastic asshole right out of you.”
My eyes shoot towards him as my jaw automatically tightens in response.
I can take a joke. I’m not devoid of any humour whatsoever, but I don’t like being disrespected.
“Watch your mouth, Leon.” I grit out.
He senses my tone and stops at the door to look back at me.
I see him gulp a little as he retreats off of his moral high horse.
“Is there anything else you need?” he asks in defeat.
“Just for you to drop it. We have a busy few days ahead.”
He nods in agreement before leaving me in peace.
I look back at the computer screen and bring up the email that I received last week from the training academy.
They have invited me there to do some coaching of their new Alpha and Beta recruits.
Ever since I left the academy years ago, I have ignored their repeated invitations to come back and train new recruits.
I know plenty of Alphas that take their turn going along to babysit the new generation of young Alpha assholes who think that they know it all but I’m not one of them.
Sebastian goes every so often, I’m sure. He probably relishes the opportunity to have these little fuckwits looking up to him like he’s some sort of God but I honestly could think of nothing worse.
Despite this, I found myself accepting their invitation this year. Goddess knows why.
Maybe I’ve allowed all of these soppy assholes around me to rub off on me somehow.
I plan to spend a couple of days there before heading straight to the Pheonix Meeting which will be held in the usual neutral spot.
I spend the rest of the afternoon catching up on work and sorting everything out for my Gamma who will look after the place whilst Leon and I are gone.
I hear a knock at the door and call out for whoever it is to come in.
“Alpha, I’ve been told your car is packed and ready to go.” Vince, my Gamma says once he enters the room.
“Vin… I’ve sorted anything urgent. If there’s anything else at all that needs my attention, you contact me straight away.” I say seriously, standing up from the desk.
“No problem, leave it to me. I’ve got this.” he nods respectfully as I make my way past him.
I nod my head at him in return and grab the files I need for the Pheonix meeting before leaving the office.
I make my way downstairs and out to the driveway where see Leon embracing Lydia lovingly.
I make my way to the car and toss the rest of my stuff in the truck before I feel a small tap on my shoulder.
“You might be a big asshole but I still love you anyway.” Lydia pouts before standing on her tiptoes to kiss my cheek.
“Alright. See you soon Lyds.” I answer in return, getting into the driver’s seat and waiting for Leon to join me.
“Call me every day and make sure you sleep in my shirt every night, I mean it.” he says to her quietly as he opens the passenger door.
He then gets in and proceeds to wave out of the window frantically as we make our way up the drive.
He looks like an overgrown puppy.
Somebody better f*****g shoot me if I ever get like that over a woman.

The next day, I walk down the staircase of the training academy to find Leon waiting for me with a grin on his face.
“Good morning sunshine.” he says with a smirk.
“I see you are in a better mood...Why are you so f*****g happy? Don’t you realise it’s 6am?”
He lets out a laugh and smacks my back.
“It’s nostalgic! Being back here. I mean we spent a hard year here training our asses off when we were younger.”
“Yeah and I was glad to leave the place.” I answer grumpily, just as the door up ahead opens and a man steps out in front of us.
“Ahhh Ivan! One of my best students. I knew I’d get you to come back here one day.”
I recognise him straight away as one of my old instructors from my time here.
“It’s good to see you again Trevor.” I say placing my hand out to shake his.
“Trevor? Come on, I ain’t that old yet, okay. What happened to Trev?” he asks with a chuckle.
“Okay Trev… but you are still f*****g old.” I say to him dryly.
“Still the same cheeky little s**t as always then? I thought you might have grown out of that phase,” he says in amusement.
“Turns out it wasn’t a phase, he’s just a dick.” Leon adds enthusiastically.
I turn to him and raise my eyebrow causing him to shrug his shoulders apologetically.
“Anyway, what do you want from me?” I ask, jumping straight to the point.
“Ahhh, well the new bunch of recruits this year are particularly hard to manage. I swear it’s all the social media nowadays, it’s frying people’s minds if you ask me.” he says, shaking his head.
I have to agree that I can’t really stand to be around teenagers for longer than I need to be. Their need to take offence to anything and everything, their attitude that the world owes them something, hell, even their mere enthusiasm for life seems to irritate me.
“I still don’t see where I come into this.” I state as we make our way down the corridor towards the training area.
“Well, I’ve invited a few highly regarded Alphas along to join in training, to speak to the new cohort, perhaps guide them a little in what it really takes to be a leader.”
I push open the door in front of us and we step into a large gym area which is filled with people.
I cast my eyes around and see a bunch of frat boy looking assholes, fooling around and causing a racket.
“I think it will take more than a couple of days.” Leon smirks as he also takes in the scene.
“Yeah…so you can see what I’m up against,” Trev says, folding his arms over his chest.
He leans against the doorframe and his wrinkled face crinkles further at the sight in front of him.
He looks down at the ground and shakes his head.
I walk further into the room and a few eyes look in my direction but the noise doesn’t stop.
One little fucker throws a football that whizzes by my head and hits the wall behind me with a thump.
“Sorry dude.” he mutters, putting his hand up apologetically as he walks by me to fetch it.
I grab hold of his arm and twist it up his back quickly, causing him to yelp in pain.
“Hey man! What the f**k!!?” he growls out in his best Alpha tone.
“You throw that ball anywhere near me again and I’ll shove it up your ass. You got that pup?” I ask, twisting his arm further.
“Yeah, yeah I got it….” he concedes, shaking out his arm after I let go.
He throws me another annoyed look as my eyes make their way back to the rest of the frat house.
“Take a seat assholes.” I say calmly.
They all look around at each other before walking forwards to sit down on the seats lined up at the front of the large gym.
“Who the hell are you?” one of them calls out arrogantly.
“This here is Alpha Ivan. He runs a large warrior pack and was one of our best students here years ago. He’s here for a couple of days to show you assholes what it takes to be a real leader.” Trev interjects before I can answer.
“Hopefully I can be of some help too!" a familiar voice says from behind.
I turn around to see Alpha Jace Armstrong.
I let out a puff of air and roll my eyes as he walks towards me with a big grin.
“How are you Ivan? Good to be working together again, right?” he asks, taking in my pissed-off demeanour.
Jace is a friend of Sebastian Pierce. We worked together recently and I have to say I found him loud and annoying.
“Yeah it is. You’ll fit right in here.” I say to him, nodding my head at the useless idiots sitting in front of us.
“I guess I will… listen up d***s… I used to be one of you. Believe me, I thought I knew everything, that’s until I got put in my place and realised what leading was really all about. Looks like Mr Happy here and I will be working together to show you what leadership looks like.” he laughs, slapping his hands together.
“Right let’s get started!”
He looks towards me and I nod, folding my arms over my chest and scowling at the idiots in front of us.
