I entered the coffee shop, my mind feeling frazzled. He wanted me to be in charge? Even if it was only a week it seemed disastrous. I couldn't take on this role. Not when I know someone like Wesley could do it better than I could. Delian may even be better!
I got into line and waited rather impatiently. "Hey, I recognize you." I looked up and saw a somewhat familiar face. Blond hair. Forest green eyes. Strong jaw.
"You're the guy who hit my nose with the door," I pointed out in remembrance. He chuckled and brought his hand to the back of his head.
"Yeah sorry about that. . . How about I make it up to you? Let me buy you a coffee."
I shook my head, "It's fine. No need fo-" The door opened, sending in a bit of wind. A scent made its way up my nose. A scent that shouldn't be here and it was coming from the blond in front of me. I held back a growl. "You're the rogue." His eyes widened for a second before a smirk came across his lips.
"And? This is a town? Free area. I haven't gone into the actual pack lands. The mountain was free land as well." I glared at him and motioned out of the shop with my head. I pushed the door open, continuing walking until I got into the tree line. Close enough to the pack to drag him back if he shows signs of being a threat.
"What are you going to do now? Kill me? I haven't broken any laws Alpha," he taunted. I look him over. I should have at least gotten a bit of a hint. I should have smelled it on him. Looking at him now I only noticed how much he looked like the wolf. Dirty blond hair and the exact same forest green of the wolf that I have been seeing around.
"I won't kill you if you get away from my pack." Even if I wasn't Alpha this was still my pack. I would protect it as best as I could. That included getting rid of any possible threats. This lingering asshole is on that list.
"I'm not doing any harm." He held his hands up as if showing he had no weapons.
"Then why are you here? What rogue," I spat the word, "is stupid enough to come near the Paramount Pack? One of the strongest packs in the country?"
"Oh good, the Paramount Pack. I'm in the right place then." I narrowed my eyes. The last time we had rogues around here was when Mom first arrived. This resulted in a huge battle that we lost many lives in. We almost lost Zay. Not to mention that rogues had kidnapped Mom during one point. I've seen her scars from what they did to her. They were long, wide, and looked like stretched out skin taffy. If that even made sense. . .
"No," I growled, "you aren't. The right place is far far away."
"As much as I love the Shrek movies, I don't really want to be in them."
"Seriously? Shrek?" I groaned and proceeded to mumble, "you annoying ass s**t, go away." He chuckled at my insult. Is he aware that the insult was directed at him?
"How about I make you a deal?" I looked at him. He messed with his blond hair as he looked me up and down. I nodded for him to continue. "Go out with me." My eyes widened. "You seem intriguing. You hold onto your arguments. Also you're kind of hot." Wait - kind of? "So go out with me. You can see that I mean no harm and if you don't then feel free to tell me to leave." I narrowed my eyes at him.
"What makes you so sure that I'm not taken?" I do have Theodosia but sadly that can't really go anywhere.
"The mark on your neck." My eyes widened. Not many people knew what the mark was and even fewer had seen one. Even with our pack, Dad announced that I was mateless when it appeared. He had a pack meeting saying how even though I didn't have a mate to rule by my side, I would still be Alpha. "I tend to travel a lot and I've come across a few werewolves with the mark. I always found it fascinating when the mark makes no appearance in those who met their mate. It only appears if your mate dies before you meet them.
"Say you went 40 years without meeting your mate and they die. Since you never met them you would receive the mark. However, say you are 13 and you've met your mate and they die. No mark! It's very odd like that. . ." I eyed him curiously. "So how old were you when your mark appeared?" I scoffed. "Young? Recently? C'mon, it'll be the first thing I learn about you on our date." He's got to be kidding.
"I never agreed to go on a date with you." He full out laughed. Green eyes crinkling, head thrown back, full out laughing.
"Oh you're funny. No I think we should have that date because it may be the simplest way to get me away from this pack." He's seriously got to be kidding me.
"I'm not into dudes." That was partially a lie. I didn't care about gender.
"From the way you've checked me out two or three times, I'm going to have to disagree with you." When the hell did I check him out?
"Fine! I'd do anything at this point to get your annoying ass away from me and away from my pack." He smirked and started going back towards the town.
"You never did answer my question," he pointed out. I rolled my eyes.
"Who the hell are you anyways?" I looked him up and down. He stopped and turned around, sticking out a hand. Damn he is hot.
"Nice to meet you, I'm Lycer."
