Finding My Way Back

Chapter 4

Garrett  

        Today when I woke up, I couldn’t shake off that something is going to happen today, I just don’t know what it is and it's making my wolf and I anxious. Maybe I’m just nervous about being in a new town with none of my friends or family around me. Earendil had told me that he could feel our mate in this part of this country and that she needed us. He is never wrong about this type of thing, but it's been over three years since he sensed her. Neither one of us have been able to sense her in the past, it's like she was never reborned like most of the Earthtarians that died during the last war. Most of us were reborn on this planet as werewolves...I know shocker, but they are really. Not in the way you might think, we don’t just change with the full moon or lose control. We are part of the wolf and the wolf is part of us. The Earthtarians think it might have to do with the spell Earendil and I’s Mate casted to win the war and give us that died a second chance at life and blasting the enemy that had brainwashed her into starting the war in the war in the first place. At least that’s what us werewolves and the Earthtarians that were still alive after the war think. It's pretty much all wild guesses as to what really happened. Tho we know that those of us that were fighting on the side of the Creatures were implanted with a device that controlled them and we had found one of devices in Galadriel our mate. 

        After Earendil had sensed her, so he located me in Canada in a pack of werewolves in the wild. He said we had to go search for her, cause if he could sense her then so could the Creatures and that meant her life is in danger.  As the Earthtarians had found the planet Galadriel had sent all the fallen Earthtarians and found out the Creatures were here as well. They didn’t have a body of their own anymore but had found a way to possession of the humans of this world. To protect us and the humans they made a base under the water where no one could find them. As humans started to explore more of the Ocean, they had to move even further into the deep sea.  

        So here I am in some small town in Indiana, looking for our mate. Every semester I transfer colleges hoping I would find her somewhere. I only have a few more towns in Indiana to search before I move onto the next state. I have started to have doubts that we will be able to find her before they do, cause if Earendil felt her presences they did to. 

        Shaking the feeling off I look to the clock seeing that I need to hurry or I’ll be late to my first class. I took a quick shower and got dressed before grabbing a banana and a power car off the kitchen counter and wolfed them down, telling myself I’ll make sure to eat a huge lunch after my first class this morning. I run to the class I need to and stop near the door so it doesn’t look like I’ve been running late. As I walk in, I look to the back of the classroom and there a few seats in the back row is Galadriel. I’m so stunned I had found that all I could do was stand there like an i***t and stare back into those clear grey eyes with hints of blue in them. It feels like a lifetime of standing there but really only a few seconds until I get bumped into as another classmate tries to get past my tall bulky body. I tell the student sorry and went into the room and looking back her looking down at her phone, she seems to be texting someone.  

        Trying not to scare her I decided to sit just a few seats away from her at the beginning of the row. I kept trying to see if I could get her attention without coming right out and telling her she is my mate and that I have to take her away from her for she was in danger. Yeah, right Garrett that will sure scare the crap out of you and run far away from you. As the teacher was handing out the syllabus to each row, I could at least say hi to her. Taking one of the pack-it of papers and handing them to her, I lightly brush her hands as she takes them, as I notice she tenses at the contact. I smile at her and then went back to the piece of paper.  

        Trying not to let on that I’m trying to look at her more, I stare at her throughout class to notice she has raven’s black hair, medium to thin body shape, I can’t really see that much as she is wearing a bagging black hoodie like she is trying to hide herself from the world. Confused by that as when I knew our mate, she was so outgoing, funny, could make anyone feel comfortable around her, full of sass, and could come up with a good comeback anyone threw at her. Most didn’t always understand that part about her except her family, mates or anybody who grew up with her. She was the most outgoing of all the royal members, she was also the most powerful of the royals, even her twin sister. I wasn’t even paying attention to the class, as I really didn’t need these classes I just took them to look for her as I had a gut feeling that’s how I would find her, I was going to change it up when I had to start looking in the next state as I was thinking maybe I was wrong. Guess I was right after all, I can’t wait to tell Earendil that I found our mate. Her family is going to be so over joyed by us finding her as they have been looking for her as well, well all except her twin sister, her twin’s daughter and one of her mates. They all died right before the war started, right before Galadriel started to act funny and not at all herself. 

        The class was drawing to a close and I had to speak to her before she left. I noticed while I was thinking about the past, she had already put away her stuff and was ready to bolt. I quickly grabbed my stuff and stepped in front of her. 

“I’m Garrett, what's your name? I ask. 

She responded “I’m Aria.”  

She looks like she wants to bolt right now but I’m block her way and she knows it. 

“Hi Aria, it's nice to meet you. How are you today?” 

She answered back, “I’m good, how are you?” She looks like she is uncomfortable. 

“I’m good as well.” I smile, about to respond but she snaps, hands on her hip “Is there something you want?” 

“It's just that I just moved to town and have no friends and thought you looked nice, enough to start a conversation with.” I say with a smile. 

“Oh!” she says looking at her feet. “I’m sorry I snapped at you, it's just that the only people who ever talk with me want one thing from me and I’m not that kind of girl and I’m kind of tired of guys thinking that about me.” she finishes. 

      My blood bubbles to think that someone would think that about my mate. Sensing I am probably showing my anger I try and push it down and ask her if I could walk her to her next class, even tho my to throw her over my shoulder and take her away from anyone who would want to her or think bad of her.  

She responses, “I don’t have any more classes today. I only take 2 classes a semester, as I work part time and I’m a full-time mom to a three-year-old. So, I'm actually going out to my car to head to the local mexican restaurant to meet my best friend and her husband for lunch.”  

        Feeling a little disappointed that I won't see her until Wednesday when this class meets again, I suggest that I walk her to her car. That’s when she suggests that I come with her to the restaurant that she is going to with her friends. In complete shock that she suggests this action as it seems she is a bit shy and doesn’t really like talking to people, but not to shoot myself in the foot at the thought of being able to spend more time with her and to figure out how she became the mother of a three-year-old. You would think Earendil would have pick up on the fact that she had s*x with another man, with his abilities being the strongest. Maybe he didn’t know, she seems to be clearly all human and not like all us fallen, but even tho she is all human she seems like there is something very deep down in her that makes her not all human. 

I respond, “That sounds great! I really love mexican food. Tho I don’t have a car, I took the bus as my apartment is only 5 bus stops from here.” 

“That's oh ok, it's only a little down the road, I can take you.”  She says, tho she looks like she might regret offering the ride. I wonder why?  

I quickly say, “That would be great, if you're sure you want to take me in your car. As I know you don’t know me and I want you to be comfortable.”  Wanting to put her at ease and not be to forward. 

        She says that its fine and that it's only a few minutes down the road. Seeing her eye the door, I move out of the row and motion to the door and say take the lead to her. She moves out of the row and walks out the door and man her backside is just as lovely as her front. A heat of pleasure goes thru my body as I remember those days and nights of all of us making love together after we found each other. I adjust my pants to make it more comfortable down that hoping she doesn’t see the affect she is having on me. 

    She leads the way to a semi beaten up compacted car. I groan in my head thinking how 6’4 250 pound me was going to fit in that car. She unlocks the car and motions for me to get in and as I slid in as best as I could she starts to giggle. Curious I say, “What’s so funny?”  

She response still giggling “It's just that you look huge in my tiny car and I thought it was funny,” 

Not excepting that’s why she was giggling I laugh as well and say “These cars are not really made for a big person like me.” I’m starting to see some of her old personality is still in there and isn’t all lost. It is concerning that she doesn’t have a clue who I am. All of us fallen Earthtarians had kept most of our memories except for the ones that had that device implanted in them. They seem to have a blank memories when it comes to when the device was implanted in them.  

        As we leave the parking lot of the school, I feel that things are going to be a lot different and dangerous for her and her daughter. I must find a way to tell her about her past without making it sound like I’m crazy or her being afraid and not wanting to come with me to where we can keep her safe, cause this time we will keep her safe from everyone.
