25. Surprise

Val sat on the window seat looking out at the day starting to wake. Birds were chirping and the suns rays were starting to spread across the grass. Back home she would sit out on the terrace outside her bedroom and watch the sun rise over the sea in the mornings, while she sipped some tea. Her brother would often come in and sit with her. In the mornings and they would talk about things going on in their lives. He would talk about his wife and little girl, and running the kingdom when their dad decided it was time. She would talk about what life would be like with Frederick, and how she wished things would be different. She missed him, he was the only one who understood her and listened to her.
