I've been trying to call Marie for the past two hours and yet she isn't picking up. What's up with her? It made me anxious. This isn't like her at all.

I just wrapped up an important meeting and I cant wait to see her, and be with her. I've been a crappy boyfriend. She's not well and I was not there for her. But whatever I'm doing is important. It'll have a big impact on our relationship.

I finished packing my last piece of clothing and then zipped up my bag. I grabbed my wallet and passport. I am ready to leave Macau with a hope for mine and Marie's relationship.

The next day, when I arrived in America, the first thing I did was to visit Marie. I went straight to her apartment. I'm really excited to see her. I knocked several times before the door opened by Leah.

"Nathan."

"Hi. Is Marie there?" I asked.

"Yeah. She's in her room, come in."

Leah stepped aside as I walked in.

"I'll be leaving now. Please take care of her while I'm gone. She's not feeling well again. " She said.

I nodded and she left. I locked the door behind me, before heading upstairs.

I reached Marie's room and knocked on her door. She opened it and the look on her eyes held sadness and disappointment.

"What are you doing here Nathan?" She asked with a frown.

"Baby.."

"Don't call me that. You can't call me baby when you have a beautiful fiancee waiting for you" she said.

I gritted my teeth. s**t. She knew. But how?

Alexander. That bastard can't just shut his mouth.

"Baby let me explain. Please." I pleaded.

She looked at me for a while before nodding. She opened the door wider for me to come in. And I did.

She closed the door after I walked in. She sat on the edge of her bed and crossed her arms over her chest.

"I was hurt Nathan. I feel betrayed. You are engaged to someone else, and I was the last one to know. Is that why Alex was so against us? Because he knows that you already belong to someone else.? " She said.

Then she let out an audible sighed.

"Explain." She said glaring my way.

I sighed and walked closer, then I knelt in front of her.

"Yes, Anika and I are arranged to marry. Our company is in the brink of bankruptcy and her family can help ours with the problem. Its my parents idea.Well, mostly my mother. I am highly against it before, especially now that I have you." I paused.

"I love you so much Marie. Its you I choose to marry, and not some snub with money." I added.

"But she's beautiful. She's elegant and an heiress. Everything that I am not." Marie said in low voice.

I grabbed her hand.

"Baby, you are beautiful. And I don't care if you think you're not elegant nor an heiress. I need you because I love you. Its you I want to marry." I told her.

"Then why are you so distant lately?" She asked.

"I've been busy with work. I've been seeing possible investors that can help with the company so we wont be needing the Reeve's help. I am doing everything I can so we can be together. "

She cupped my cheek.

"Did you find any?" She asked.

I gave her a small smile.

"I actually did. That's why I was in Macau. I just closed a deal. Its not much but it can help." I paused.

"I'm sorry if I'm not around lately. Especially that you are not well. Its just, I cant see you not being well. I hate seeing you on that hospital bed. It breaks my heart."

She smiled.

"I am fine. I am more than alright now that you are here." She said.

I grabbed her hand on my cheek and brought her palm on my lips, kissing it softly.

"I promise I'll make everything right. For us."

She smiled and said.

"I believe you."

After spending a good few hours with Marie, I went to see Alexander. I marched towards his office, unannounced.

"I see you're back." He said looking at me before he turned back to the papers he's reading.

With three long strides, I was beside him. I grabbed his shirt and punched his jaw. He was stunned as his chair moved back a bit, then he glared my way.

"What the f**k is wrong with you?!" He growled as he stands up.

"I told you to stay the f**k away from Marie! How dare you drop the truth to her just like that?!"

Alex fixed his wrinkled shirt and sat back on his chair.

"Anika paid her a visit. I just confirmed what I know is already running through her pretty little messed up head." He said.

I grab the nearest thing within my reach and threw it at him, hitting him in the head. In this case, his planner.

"What the hell?!"

"You should've shut your mouth! Stop meddling with my relationship. I'm not afraid to beat the crap out of you if you ever come near my girl ever again." I growled.

"And don't call her messed up. You prick." I added.

He scoffed.

"I already told you that your relationship with her is bound to be doomed. From the start you know your life has been planned out. Aunt Natalia is not known to be patient. She's speeding up everything regarding your wedding." He said.

"Not if I can stop it."

With that I left his office. Furious with this f**k up situation.

I just hate it. This is my life. I'll run it the way I wanted. I'm done with people trying to control me.

From now on I'll do things my way. f**k everyone.

I pulled my phone from my pocket and started calling people. I'll make a world just for me and Marie. She's all I wanted and needed.
