All I could do right now is to bow my head in shame. I did not know what to say. I was speechless. Many thoughts were racing through my head, and it was becoming overwhelming.
While my head remained bent down as I stared blankly at my lap, I could hear the waiter return with Isla’s food. I could hear her immediately unwrapping her meal and eating it. I do not think she cared to fill the silence between us which was quickly becoming awkward.
I slowly lifted my head to look at her, only to see that while she was eating, she was staring at me questioningly.
“Are you not upset?” I asked her because she seemed rather calm and collected.
