Chapter eight

Seb "Hey Kara!" She smiled briefly. She hadn't spoken to me since I had pushed myself away from her and fed into Kai’s arms. Something I would regret for the rest of my life. "Come on Kara, talk to me." "I can't Seb, not right now I'm late for class." "After class then?" She turned, looking at me. "Maybe." She smiled, turning back and heading to her class. At least she wasn't ignoring me, maybe just maybe she'd forgive me and we could be friends if nothing else. "She won't forgive you Seb. I'd that's what you're wondering." I looked at Jed. "Well maybe you're wrong." I'm never wrong, come on let's get this tedious hour and done with." "Sure." We walked into the class late as usually getting yet another detention after school. Great just great I was hoping to talk with Kara as Kai was slipping school as per. We both sat down. I zoned out remembering how me and Kara first met and I'd convinced her to date me. Why did Kai have to screw it up for me? I really liked Kara. She was different from all the other girls here, she wasn't fake and she was naturally beautiful. She didn't need to cake on the make up to look the part. She was natural through and through. I enjoyed her company though sgd was hesitant to open up and share her past with me. When she eventually did, I went and screwed it by leaving her behind the same day and by telling Kai everything she had told me. I know she still hates me for it and I don't know what else I can do but apologise for the thousandth tone and hope she accepts it. Jed nudged me. I snapped off of my thoughts and stared forward at the board, quickly scribbling the notes down. The bell rang and we gathered our belongings and headed out of class. "That was close Seb, if i hadn't got your attention he would've not only made a fool out of you in class, he would've given you double detention." I shrugged my shoulders now like I cared I would've gotten triple detention once I had finished with him. "What's wrong with you Seb? "Nothing." "Forget about her she'll never forgive you and if Kai finds out.." "He won't." I butted in. As Kara asked out of the class alone. "I'll see you at lunch, Jed." "But." "Lunch." "Oh brother." I ignored Jed jogging away catching up with Kara. "Hey Kara, can we talk now?" She looked at me flustered, almost scared. But why? I would hurt her. "Please Kara can we talk? Kai isn't in school today. No one will tell him if that's what you're scared of." "I have to meet my friends." "It won't take long." "Fine." She sighed and I smiled. "Come on, I know somewhere we can talk privately. " "Okay." "Follow me." Shf nodded following me, she kept her distance by asking behind me but far enough but tk get the kids in this school talking. I decided to take her to our hide out at the back of the school where no one dared to go. I looked at her. "I know you hate me, Kara but I'm really sorry about how things have turned out." "I don't hate you Seb. I'm just disappointed in you. I trusted you and you betrayed that trust by telling Kai something that I didn't want to share. I shared it with you because I trusted you because you broke that trust and for that I don't know if I can ever trust you again." She doesn't hate me. "I'm sorry I really am Kara. Let me make it up to you, let me prove to you that you can trust me again. Let me be your friend and I promise you will trust me again." She looked at me straight in my eyes. I had no idea what she was thinking. Then she sighed. "You have one chance Seb and if you screw it up we're done." I smiled, pulling her into a hug. "You don't know how much this means to me. You won't regret it. I promise. " "I better not. Now can you let go, I can't breathe." "Sorry. " I chuckled, pulling out of the hug. This was the happiest way of my life, she may not be my girl but she's my friend and I want to disappoint her. "Can I go now? I have to meet my friends." "Sure we'll talk soon okay?" "Okay." She smiled. "Bye Seb." "Bye Kara." "Bye Seb." She replied, before walking away. "So, how did it go?" I jumped looking angrily at jeans. "s**t Jed cinema as yourself next time." He laughed. "I will." He looked at me with a serious expression on his face. "So how did it go?" "Good, at least she didn't rip my bollocks off and shove them down my throat." "There is that." He laughed. "So, what did she say? Did she flip you off and walk away?" "No she didn't, she gave me one last chance not to screw up." "Make sure you don't " "I won't." "I guess she doesn't hate you after all." "I guess she doesn't." I smiled. ~ Kara and Jaie walked alone. It was a quiet day today. She hadn’t seen Kai all day. Maybe he was bunking off something which she was glad of. It gave her a chance to spend time with her friends. Something she didn’t do much of these days seen as he took all her time up out of lessons though her mom didn’t approve of this soon to turn sixteen year old boy who had practically taken her away from her friends to be friends with his. There was just something about him she didn’t like, but could not quite put her finger on it though he was polite around her. There was a darker side to this boy which only Kara knew about and chose not to share with her ever. He stood by the gates smoking as Kara and Jaie walked out of the school he looked up, doubting his cigarette out. “Jaie.” She looked up and swallowed. “Shit.” Kara looked at the messy haired teenager, one she didn’t know, but Jaie did. “Who’s that?” “Trouble.” She smiled nervously at him as they continued walking, he stood in front of her. “How are you Jaie? It's been a long time.” “Fine.” “Have you seen Kai Jaie?” “Not today why?” “He said to meet him here at three.” “I thought you two weren’t supposed to have anything to do with one another?” “Do you really think that’s gonna stop Kai?i Jaie. Be serious, they can’t say nought, we’re not on the school's time.” He looked at Kara. “So who’s the new chick aren’t we going to get any introductions.” “Dawson Kara, Kara this is Jamie Dawson Kai’s upper hand.” “I taught him everything he knows. I’m his best bud and you must be his new skirt.” She smiled. “I must say you’re an improvement on Tara, surprised mind you don’t seem the type to be his type you know what I mean.” “I guess.” “We best be going Dawson.” “Can’t you wait a while until Kai gets here, we ain't seen each other for two years, Jaie.” “Maybe another time I have to get back.” “Your mom is still treating you like a two year old?” “No. I have homework.” Kai slipped his arms around Kara kissing her neck feeling her tension, he looked up. “Jay, you're early.” “Nope, you're late.” “Sorry got held up.” “Dodging school again Kai?'’ “You know me Dawson.” “If I knew you were I’d’ve joined you. The day was so long and so boring.” “Maybe next time.” “I’ll hold you to that, so are we ready to go?” “We are.’ “Come on Kara we’ll walk you home.” “I…” He stared at her. “Fine.” She sighed. They all walked away walking down the street. ‘So I take it Jaie introduced you to Kara?” “She did eventually.” “Good, cause you’ll be seeing a lot of her.” “And Tara is she still hanging?” “Only when Kara isn’t.” “So they don’t get on?” ‘“Not really, no.” “I see.” “We have to go, Kai. Jaie’s coming to mine. We have homework.” “Sure.” He kissed her softly. “I’ll see you in school tomorrow.” “Okay.’” “Bye Jaie.” She smiled as her and Kara walked down her drive. Kai and Dawson walked away.
