It had been another uneventful week at Canterbury High. Kai was keeping his eyes on Kara and Seb. She had, unfortunately, not yet told Seb why she had left America behind to come to a country where all that was done was snow and rain.
He knew he had to keep trying for Kai, who was the most impatient person he knew, but he knew Kara needed to learn to trust him, but would she ever be able to?
Seb looked down on Kara. He hoped she could trust him enough to tell him what really went on at her previous school and why she had to leave the country. ‘Can I ask you something, Kara?’
‘Yeah sure.’
‘Don’t be angry at me, I just want you to tell me why you were expelled.’
‘I can’t.’
‘Don’t you trust me.’
‘I promised mom I wouldn’t, she wanted me to make friends without anyone knowing what really went on. I guess she was scared of me not having any friends.’
‘You have friends, Kara.’
‘I won’t once they know the truth.’
‘This is between you and me, okay.’ He looked at her. ‘You trust me, don’t you?’
‘I don’t know Seb. You could go running to Kai.’
~
It had been a while since Kara and Seb had got together and she was unaware that things between them would come crashing down around them if she agreed to let herself open up to him? Was she willing to open up to him? She was still dubious that he was going to go running to Kai the moment she opened up and all would change between them. She didn’t want to be in Kai’s gang. She’d heard all the bad things about him and them and what they did and she knew everyone was scared of them, even her friends, and it was something she didn’t wish to be involved in.
Seb looked down on Kara. He hoped she could trust him enough to tell him what really went on at her previous school and why she had to leave the country? ‘Can I ask you something, Kara.’
‘Yeah sure.’
‘Don’t bite my head off this time. Just tell me why you were expelled.’
‘Yeah.’
‘Tell me then.’
‘I got expelled for fighting.’
‘Ain’t an excuse to start again in a new country, Kara.’
‘She’s in intensive care Seb. I could’ve killed her.’
‘Well you didn’t….so what did she do?’
‘My x.’
‘Oh so he and she??!!’
‘He cheated on me with her. I found out and I flipped. My friends had to pull me off her before I killed her.’
‘Wow. But why the UK? I mean you could’ve gone anywhere in America. Why here?’
‘Moms job. She got a promotion, but she had to move over here. She accepted. The school was close to the house and her job, so I was put there. No one knows what happened at my old school, but my friends and you.’
‘Don’t worry Kara, I won’t tell anyone, I promise.’
He pressed his lips on hers, kissing her passionately, knowing this would be their last kiss and their last time together. He kissed her harder and harder. He wanted more than he could ever have with her. He’d agreed with Kai he would not touch her though he had found it hard not to.
‘So she tell you.’
‘Yeah, it took a little while to convince her I wouldn’t tell anyone.’
‘So what did she say?’
‘She left a girl in a coma.’
‘Really.’ His eyes glowed coldly.
‘Yeah she found out her boyfriend was cheating on her with her, she paled her leaving her hanging on.’
He smiled evilly. ‘Nice one Seb phase two.’
‘Are you sure, Kai, she’ll know it’s me.’
‘Who’s gonna tell her? Not me.’
‘Me neither.’
‘Well, then this stays between us.’
‘Sure.’
’Tomorrow Seb.’
‘Sure Kai.’
Kai walked away. Seb hoped that she wouldn’t hate him for this. He really liked her, but he had to back away for this to work. He hoped in time he would get her back.
‘I won’t just tell me.’
‘I can’t I, sorry..’
He slumped down pissed he was getting nowhere. Kai would be pissed. He nodded. He knew Kara was hiding something but he wasn’t sure why he knew she’d been expelled, but why?’
‘I’m sorry Seb, I will tell you.’
‘When?’
‘I don’t know, just give me some more time, okay.’
‘Okay.’ He pulled her close. ‘You can trust me, Kara.’ He said and pressed his lips on hers, kissing her passionately, knowing this would be their last kiss and their last time together. He kissed her harder and harder. He wanted more than he could ever have with her. He’d agreed with Kai he would not touch her though he had found it hard not to.
‘So she tell you.’
‘No I’m sorry Kai. I really tried. She still has it in her head. I’m going to tell you."
‘Make her beloved your not.’
‘I’ll try.’
He nodded.’Tomorrow Seb.’
‘Sure Kai.’
Kai walked away. Seb hoped that he would have more time with her before she told him the real reason she was expelled. He wanted to spend as much time as he could before Kai got his hands on her.
‘Leave us.’
They looked at Kara and she was gone. He sat down next to her. ‘We were eating, Kai. You could’ve waited.’
‘And I told you we were having lunch.’
‘You didn’t give me a chance to say otherwise.’
He got out his lunch eating. ‘How come you're not with your friends?’
‘I wanted to spend time with you.’
‘Sure Tara won’t have anything to say about that?’
‘I already told you we’re no longer together. It has nothing to do with her.’
‘She didn’t look too pleased to see me with you.’
‘Ignore her Kara, I like you.’
‘Like you liked her.’
‘More.’
‘You can’t just swap and change who you want to be with.’
‘I want to be with you. She knows that.’
‘What am I to you Kai, another minion?’
‘No babe, you're my girl like she was, now you are. I like you.’
‘Until you get bored.’
‘No I won’t.’
‘You got bored of her.’
‘I found you.’
‘You can get bored of me too.’
‘No I won’t.’
‘Why if you do?’
He looked at her. ‘I won’t.’ He pressed his lips on hers, kissing her hungrily.
‘Guess she didn’t take anyone’s advice.’
‘He’s got something on her, Kav, she won’t say what, but he has.’
‘Does anyone know anything about her?’
‘Not much, but he does.’
‘I like to know how he knows who to look out for.’
‘Everyone does.’
He moved away. ‘Now we’ve got over that you can come back to mine.’
‘I don’t know Kai.’
‘Your olds expecting you back.’
‘They’re working.’
‘Cool, you can come back. What time do I have to get you back for?’
‘Six.’
‘Sweet. I’ll meet you at the gates.’
‘Are you sure?’
‘I am.’
The bell rang. ‘Guess this is us. I’ll see you at the gates.’
She smiled. He quickly kissed her. ‘Later Kara.’
‘Kai.’
He walked away as she pulled herself up, walking over to her friends.
‘I’m sorry, guys, he never gave me the chance to say no.’
‘It’s okay, Kara, we know him, you don’t say no to him and you don’t get in his face or you’re dead.’
‘He’s not that bad, is he?’
‘Worse, so if I were you, I’d be careful.’
‘I will.’
