Chapter 10Lyle couldn’t say he was terribly surprised when he went into the living room Sunday morning and found the sofa empty, with the blanket he’d put over Damien neatly folded in one corner. Disappointed, yes, but not surprised. He made breakfast for one, and then set about doing his usual chores before going grocery shopping. As he had for the last two weeks, he paid close attention to who was around him, both on the drive to and from the store and while he was shopping. Thankfully, he didn’t get the sense that he was being watched. Maybe whoever it was, that woman or someone else, moved on to bother some other victim. I sure hope so.
