~Adrian~
I smirked as she looked as if she'd seen a ghost. I turned back towards everyone watching to see if she would crumble or would she play along. To my surprise, she faced everyone and flashed them a smile. She was really good at masking her emotions. I squeezed her hand and led her back to my chamber.
I shut the door after she walked in. I looked her over and damn she was beautiful in this dress. But I had to play my part. I had to be the dutiful king everyone is expecting me to be. I was getting ready to approach her when someone knocked on my door.
“Bathroom now,” I demanded. Her heels clicked away and I opened the door to be greeted by my younger brother. He didn’t say anything, he just welcomed himself in. I closed the door and turned to face him.
“Really, Adrian? You’re going to marry the person who murdered our father!” He paced back and forth with frustration. “She lied. She said her name was Olivia.”
“Jasper, I know what I’m doing.”
“Really? Do you really have a f*****g clue at how twisted this is?”
“Watch your tone, little brother. You’re talking to the King.”
“Screw you, Adrian. If the Emperor gets a hold of this, our family is screwed,” he seethed.
“And if the Emperor gets ahold of you disrespecting the new King..Well, little brother, let’s just say that it won’t be pretty.” In a second, he was in my face. Jasper always had been the one to fly off of the handle. His face was contorted with anger as his breathing began to slow down.
“Oh, pulling rank already?” He asked and I just smirked.
“I’m doing my job as the King,” I answered.
“That’s a load of bullshit, Adrian.”
I rolled my eyes at him. “Do you envy me that much, little brother?”
He scoffed. “Seriously? Envy you?”
“Yes, envy me because I have the crown you want so badly.”
“Everything is given to you. I deserve to be King just as much as you do!” He shouted. I walked away and sat on my bed.
“Don’t give that you deserve to be King crap. You know the order of the crown. Father would be very angry with your behavior.”
“Well, father is dead! My behavior doesn’t matter to him anymore.” He stormed out after that leaving me alone with the mysterious beautiful woman who was in my bathroom.
“You can come out now,” I said. She appeared shortly after. I walked up to her and she didn’t back down from my glare.
“So, my lovely fiancée. We have a lot to discuss.”
“I don’t have anything to say to you.” The fact that she wasn’t afraid of me intrigued me, but she also needed to be reminded that she’s a prisoner in my kingdom. She stood there looking like a queen. That black dress was like second skin, as if it was painted on her. My member throb at the thought of taking her. I am the King after all, but for now I’ll play her game. I laughed at her and she only frowned.
“Listen here, you were not supposed to leave the room. Sophia and Emily will be punished for their deception.” Her eyes widened in fear.
“No, don’t punish them. It was my fault. I wanted to go to the coronation. I just wanted to enjoy my last days. Please if anything, punish me.”
“Are you sorry for sneaking into my coronation?” I asked. No prisoner has ever gone to such lengths. She did it and almost got away with it. She looked into my eyes with such fire in hers.
“As a matter of fact, I’m not. I had a life before this mess and I will get back to it. I can’t be your fiancée, I don’t even know you. Plus, don’t forget, I’m a nurse and I have a job to get back to.” She started to walk away and I pulled her back, making her look from me to the arm that I accidentally roughly grabbed.
“I’m sorry,” I loosened my grip. I don’t want her to think that I’m abusive. I’m nothing like that.

“Let go of me, Adrian.” I tried to snatch away, but he held me firm, causing me to squirm. Not from pain, it was more like excitement. An arousal if I must silently admit.
“You don’t have a choice, Victoria. You are mine. You will only have your freedom as the queen of Adenville. Anything that you were doing before, you can kiss it goodbye.”
He looked coldly at me and raised his eyebrow, waiting for me to respond. This man is like a flip switch. One minute he’s nice and the next he’s a menace. One minute he’s gentle and the next he’s doing things to try to break me. One thing I will not tolerate is being weak because I’m a female. If he ever raises his hand to me, I will slap the s**t out of him. This isn’t what I want. I don’t want the toxicity and I damn sure don’t want to be queen. I want to go back to my way of living. Granted my family wasn’t poor, hell, we all practiced medicine so money was never an issue.
“And what am I supposed to tell my family? My job? They’re not stupid, they’re going to know something is wrong.”
“You will tell them that you’ve been seeing me for over a year and I proposed. You didn’t want to jinx our relationship and that’s why you haven’t introduced me.” He pushed my hair behind my ear. I can’t stand him. He took away my choice to live on my own. I had no way of communicating with everyone unless I complied with his idea. He smiled when he saw me fighting to make the right decision.
Knowing that he won, he grabbed my hand and led me to his bed. I thought being a prisoner meant being locked in a cell. But no, it was much more than that. It was being held captive with no choices of my own. He really thought this through. He knew just what to say.
I sat on the end, unsure of what was going to happen next. I can’t lie and say that I don’t find him attractive because I do. He’s dark, mysterious, and I knew from the moment our eyes connected that he was going to make my life a living hell. I hate it and want it at the same time. Maybe I’m the one that’s losing it.
“Can I at least call my parents?” I asked. I know it was a risk, but I just needed to hear their voices.
“For what?” He asked.
“I want to tell them about our engagement.” He stared at me with a blank look in his eyes. I wasn’t so sure that he would let me.
“I need to tell them, Adrian. Please,” I begged. This was the most begging I’ve done except when I’m begging a patient to take their night time medications. He let out a breath and stood to get my phone. When he returned, he powered it on in front of me before placing it in my hand. I quickly dialed my dad’s cell and he answered after the first two rings.
“Hey sweetheart , how’s your vacation?”
I cleared my throat. “Hi dad, it’s great. Is mom around?”
“Yeah, she's lying right next to me. I’ll put it on speaker,” he said.
“Hi sweetie,” my mom said in an almost sleepy tone.
“Hi mom. I miss you both.”
“Oh sweetie we miss you too, but you needed this vacation. You work so hard and me and your dad were worried that you would overwork yourself. I know these past few years have been hard for you.” My mother rambled on without mentioning my past.
“Mom?” I called. I had to stop before she said too much.
“Oh I’m sorry. I’m just talking you to death. Was there something you wanted to tell us?”
“Yes, I’ve met someone and we’ve been seeing each other for over a year,” I lied.
“That’s good sweetie,” my dad responded.
I chuckled, “Yeah, so, he proposed and I said yes.”. It broke my heart because the screeching sound from my mother’s voice and my dad’s excitement made me feel guilty. I looked at Adrian and he smiled giving me his approval.
“Oh my god, Tori, that’s incredible,” my mom exclaimed.
“So, when can we meet him?” My dad asked. I looked to Adrian because I didn’t have an answer. He mouthed, four weeks and I nodded my head.
“When we come back from our vacation.” God this was hard. Lying to them, giving them false hope that I can recover from what happened two years ago. I told them that I had to go and that I will call them later. After hanging up the phone, Adrian had his hand out.
“Give it here,” he said.
“Geez, I’m going to be queen and can’t even keep my own phone,” I said sarcastically.
“Don’t push your luck. I was nice enough to let you call them,” he growled as I placed the phone in his hand. He stood to put it back in some type of lockbox.
“By the way, since we’re engaged, no more d**k pics from your little flings.” He almost sounded a little jealous. He has no reason to be because I don’t belong with him.
“Jealous much?” I asked.
“You wish. I can have any woman in this Kingdom.”
“Well go to them because you will never get to have me in that way.” He was on me in a second. Our noses touched, our lips were merely inches apart. His warm breath lightly danced on my face. He was so into my personal space that I could barely breathe.
“As I said before, my soon to be bride, you are mine to do whatever I please and you will see soon enough.”
I stood and wiped off my black dress. “Well since we’re not married, yet. I would like to go back to the room I was in. Isn’t that how this works?” He said nothing, he just stood and unbuttoned his shirt. Damn, why did he have to be a sexy basket case? Once he removed his shirt, my eyes flickered to his arms and his Abs. Shaking my head, I looked back up to his smirking face.
“Are you going to let me out?” I asked. He chuckled as he walked towards the door. He slowly unlocked the latch and opened the door. I made a dash to leave, but he jumped in front of me.
“I didn’t forget about your punishment. Be here after breakfast so we can discuss wedding details.” I nodded my head and he called one of his guards to walk me to my room. I moved past him, damn near left the guard as I sped walked towards my chamber.
