16 - 16 - Rodin brought Sporiff’s list to his mind. About twenty names, the majority of them now dead. And all to pay for the death of one girl. Rodin could understand how the old man wanted those responsible to pay. But he could also see the waste. Was one person worth twenty others? To the old man, the answer was obvious. Yes, of course she was. Twenty, fifty, one hundred. There was nothing more important to him than his daughter. He had done everything he could to save her from her illness.
