The Jeep carrying Danaya came to a stop. Peering out the window, she saw rows of houses and people warmly greeting their arrival. "We've arrived," Theodore said. "Welcome to Shadowblade pack," he added, and he parked his Jeep in front of a large house. "Let's go inside. I'll take you to the Alpha's office," he continued. Danaya nodded her head and went out of the car wearing Theodore's jacket on her, as the dress that Vladimir's servant made her wear was thin. "Thank you," she whispered. "Follow me," Theodore said. The double doors opened, and Theodore walked inside while Danaya carefully followed him barefoot. The servants gawked at her but remained silent as they greeted the Beta of the pack. "Stay here; I'll talk to him first," Theodore said as they stopped in front of Alister's office. Danaya followed the beta and leaned on the wall as he went inside the office. Theodore saw Alister lying on the couch; his face was covered with a book. "Alister," he called his name. Alister opened his eyes and removed the book from his face. "The phone kept ringing," Theodore said. Alister lazily got up and stretched his body. "It's the Bureau," Alister said. "They kept calling me after I sent them Vladimir's head," he added. "Of course, they would! What did they say?" Theodore asked, sitting on the couch opposite him. "It was wrong of me to attack Vladimir Montabard without informing them," Alister replied. "But I did. Vladimir kept pushing my buttons, and the last straw was that he got our people involved. Innocent died because of that b*stard," he continued. "We have evidence of his warehouses where he kept his abducted women to make them vampires meals. No matter how hard they tried to conceal it, we still found out it was one of the Montabard's. And don't forget the attack on our people. His halflings ratted him out," he went on. "I'm sure the Bureau would dismiss it. You did them favor after all," Theodore said. "Vladimir's running amok in this area, terrorizing different species and doing illegal things left and right. The Bureau should thank you for eliminating that nuisance," he added. Alister lifted his shirt and remarked, "He's been a pain in the ass for a year now. Glad he's gone, but he's a tough one. He landed blows before dying." Theodore flinched at the sight of the large cut across Alister's stomach. "He got you good. That's the reason why he got killed. He underestimated you, but he was still a high lord after all," Theodore stated. "But Alister, I have something to say to you," he added. "Anyway, we found Vladimir's prisoner in the basement, alone and scared. She said she wants to talk to you," Theodore continued. "Let her in," Alister said. "Okay, don't be too harsh. She seemed to have gone through hell staying in that place," Theodore said and stood up. He went out of the office and saw Danaya patiently waiting while fiddling with the hem of the jacket she borrowed. "You can go in now," Theodore said. Danaya's face lit up, and she bowed her head before entering Alister's office. Danaya carefully closed the door behind her and saw Alister standing near the window, hands on his back. "Hello," she murmured. Alister turned around and met the woman's soft eyes with his piercing ones. "Sit down," he said. Danaya sat on the chair in front of him with haste and clasped her hands together. "What is it that you want to talk about?" Alister asked, sitting on his swivel chair. "Please help me," she said. "Of course, I will send you back home. Just tell me where you are living; I will have my men escort you," Alister replied. "No!" Danaya exclaimed, pulling back and lightly touching his hand. They made brief contact, and she felt a spark fly between them. "Ms..." "Danaya. I'm Danaya," Danaya answered, seeing Alister was waiting for her. "Ms. Danaya, I thought you wanted help, and I'm offering it to you. What else do you want?" Alister asked, his voice much firmer than when he first spoke to her. "Please help me get my revenge and help me find my family," she whispered, closing her eyes. Danaya needs to find her remaining tribemates, and they will all return to the island. "Ms. Danaya, I don't even know you personally, yet do you want me to help you with your revenge? What's in it for me?" Alister asked, crossing his arms. "I'll give you everything," Danaya answered, looking into Alister's eyes. "I have everything in my pack, Ms. Danaya," he replied. Danaya nibbled at her lower lip. She doesn't know Alister well enough to be able to inform him about her power just yet. She has no idea what he will do to her if he finds out about her ability to heal. Seeing no other option, Danaya took off Theodore's jacket and stood up, revealing her body in a thin, flimsy dress. "Myself, I will give you myself," Danaya said. "I will become your slave; just please help me," she added desperately. Alister stood and walked towards her. Towering at the woman, Alister stared at her once again, as if reading her deepest thoughts. "We shall talk again," he said and threw Theodore's jacket, changing it with his. "I'll have my servant serve you. Rest. I will call you again later," he added, zipping the jacket to hide Danaya's body. "Theodore!" Alister called. Theodore entered and saw the two standing close together. "Tell Jane to attend to Danaya's need. Have her rest in the room next to mine," Alister ordered. Theodore nodded his head and reached out his hand. "Let's go, Ms. Danaya," Theodore said. Danaya followed Theodore, but before they went out of the office, she saw Alister staring at her. "This is going to be your temporary room, Ms. Danaya. Jane will come with a meal, so sit down and relax. You’re safe in here," Theodore said after showing the room to Danaya. "Thank you so much," Danaya said, tear-eyed. "It’s nothing, Ms. Danaya. I will leave now. Please call me or tell Jane if you need something," Theodore said and left the room. Danaya settled in the room, and a servant came in to help her and serve her meal. Starving, she immediately devoured the food in front of her. "Slow down, child. I can get you another serving," the woman named Jane said. Danaya broke down in tears upon realizing that Jane resembled her nanny Maria, who she wasn't sure was still alive. "Child, what's wrong? Is something hurting you?" Jane asked and rubbed Danaya's back. "I just remembered my nanny," she said. "Oh, child, tell me what happened?" Jane asked. Danaya shook her head. "The slavers. The s-slavers took my family and me and killed my uncle. I was separated from my nanny and was s-sold to the vampire lord, which Shadowblade defeated," She stammered and wept as she said. "Hush now, child. You're safe here," Jane said, embracing Danaya. Danaya did the same and cried in the older woman's arms until she fell asleep. "How is she?" Alister asked Jane, who went out of Danaya's room. He's been standing outside the room, listening to the conversation between the two. "Sound asleep," Jane replied. "That poor child. What are you planning, Alister?" she added. "I don't know yet," Alister said, but he already knew that he couldn't turn down Danaya's offer and the tingle he felt when their hands first touched.
