VIOLET 10

2623 Words
I was in the small wedding dress shop, looking at the racks of dresses. Wondering which kind I would want, what kind would make me look amazing. I liked simple and wanted something that didn't weigh 40 kilos. It was fate that we found a wedding ring with butterflies, they were my favorite kind of flying things. My mom and I were running on one of my first ever shifted run in the mountains and we rested... and a butterfly came and landed on my nose. I got to sit there and watch it and I hadn't seen anything like it until a video of the same thing happened to a German shepherd on the internet. I sat back as the lady helping us went to pull all kinds of silhouettes for me that are in my size, and I was glad that she was also a wolf so she knew the reason behind getting married so quick. I had refused ballgowns and just about everything with a train. I wanted simple, old fashioned, simple beauty. I would try the mermaid, the A lines, the sweetheart neck lines, ones with sleeves, no sleeves, strapless, I would try it all. But as she pulled everything, I went and looked at veils. And there were a few with some color, some gold, some pink... and then I saw a perfect veil. It was pure white with thick white butterflies where it would hit my shoulders. I slipped it on and my sister in law Serena came over and helped me flip it over so I could see the full effect. I smiled and laughed and nodded. "This one for sure." I told her as I looked at myself in it. "That was easy." I heard Elena laugh and I nodded in the mirror as I looked at her in it. "Beautiful, matches that nice ring." She said and she raised her hand and tilted her head like she was waiting to see my hand. "How much was that ring?" She asked as I let her see it. "He didn't tell me. He told me to head out and look at other things I would want in other stores as he made the purchase." I told her and she smiled and looked at it again. "Probably really expensive then. I am surprised he didn't give you a family heirloom." She told me and I shrugged. "His oldest brother probably got any ring to his mate, and the family he comes from... well he said they don't do the whole human marriage, so it's not like they have tons of rings." "I am sure they can melt a tiara or two." I heard Nadia laugh and I sighed and moved to take the veil off and hold onto it. I wasn't sure if the cracks they were joking about in the car were supposed to be mean, or just a bit of fun, but with that one, I knew. "What's going on?" I asked as I looked at my sisters and my 2 sister in laws that came today. "Nothing princess." Nadia said and I glared. "Something is going on. You've all got your little jokes out, now you're being rude-" "We're not rude. We just want to know what it feels like to be a princess to a lying prince." Elena added and I rolled my eyes and moved to look around again. "Is he paying for the dress?" "He wants to." I cut it short, I didn't want to tell them anything. I was going to say more, but then it would just add more fuel to the fire. "So he will." Nadia seemed firm on that, I kept my mouth shut and walked around. I never thought that my siblings would be upset that he lied. He had a reason to. Now they were all being judge-y. "Ok, if you guys are going to be like this with my mate who has a reason to lie... then please leave, go back to work, I will find my own dress and marry my mate without the cracks, the jokes, and the rude comments." I took a deep breath and saw that the lady that was pulling dresses was walking over to us. "Thank you, can we just try them on." I told her and she nodded and waved me to follow her. I got to the back, she told me about the bridal wear that she also had available for the underwear and bra choices. She could get them if I wanted them now and I nodded.  "Here is a little catalogue of what has just come out, we get to try on the items just so we can talk about how nice it is. I really like this one here." She pointed at a few with stockings attached. "They are so warm so it fits really well with a dress. Not that we get too cold... and the feet are just a bit thinner so you can easily fit in the shoes you want to wear." She told me and I nodded. "And I guess the bra part should wait until I find out what kind of straps I get." I told her and she nodded in understanding. "Do you have a dress I should start with?" I asked her and she nodded before going to get it and telling me to get undressed and that she would be right back with the first one. She came in with a tea length dress that was very simple, something that reminded me of the 50's and while I liked it, it was not a wedding dress in my head. "I like it, but it doesn't shout wedding dress." I told her and she nodded slowly before helping me out of it. It had a simple zip up the side so it came off just as easy as it went on. "Next up I have what some people call the goddess dress." She pulled out a full while dress that looked like it would just hang off of me. The thick straps were nice but it was a little too... thick. It hid most of my body, and it was again, ok, but not what I wanted. Maybe it was too simple. I went through a couple different kinds, strapless, sweetheart... and then she wanted to up the spice factor on my simple request. I waited and paced waiting for her. She came back with a A line, backless, slight lace bodice, well the entire top was lace, and the length was so pretty on me. I slipped it on, seeing how it took in my waist, how it didn't show off my chest too much, and how good it felt on. It wasn't heavy, it wasn't too much, it was just right. I was having my whole moment when the lady helping me took the veil I had brought in the room with me and put it on me as well. "Now... that is a bride." She told me and I gulped. "Ready to go show your mother?" "Yes." I told her and she smiled before going to get the door for me. I didn't have to lift the dress and walk, I could just take steps and the veil was light enough I could do it without help. I got out to the front and smiled as I heard my mom gasp. "Oh baby." She whispered and I turned to fully show off what it looked like and saw her getting up in the mirror and coming closer. My sisters had all stayed, and while they looked like they were also having a moment I wouldn't be happy about what had happened before now with them. "It's so pretty momma." I told her and she nodded and ran her hands down the veil and moved to get it out of my face and I felt the tears rising. "You're perfect in this. He is going to love it." She told me and I smiled as I looked back to the mirrors and pulled the skirt a bit and saw that it flowed nicely. "I hope so." I smoothed down the rest of the dress, loving how soft it was. Satin was a smooth feeling, and I knew that the stockings and such would be an added bonus for... after. "This is my dress." I told my mom and she nodded and wiped a tear that leaked out. "This is it?" I heard my sisters ask and I looked at them in the mirror. "You try on one and think it's the one?" "I tried on others, I just didn't want to show you." I told them and shrugged before looking around for any kind of lingerie. "Not show us?" I heard Cosmina but I kept looking at myself and the dress before wanting to get over with and back to my mate. We had already taken about an hour and a half. It was mid morning, I was hungry, I was thirsty, and I really wanted to be with Luka when his aunt and uncle arrived. I didn't want to meet up later. "Yes, not show you. I didn't like them and I didn't want to hear more criticism about something that wasn't a choice." I told them and moved to step down. "I am going to change now." I dismissed them and smiled at my mom before going to change out of my dress, and then I went right into the bra part of the catalogue. "With this dress I would recommend not wearing any regular bra. We have there things that can stick to your skin, I am sure you've seen it... it's really easy to put on, really easy to pull off." She showed me some see-through lift up bras that would give me a lot more cleavage than ever before. I wouldn't need to use all the string but it would be a good way to have something so it didn't show with my backless dress. I paid for everything with his card. The dress was only a couple hundred dollars. I was told it was the cheapest I had tried on, and I loved that even more. I got it all bagged in a nice white slip of a bag, when we got into my moms car we were all quiet and we stopped off at our parents house. I set the bag inside, didn't see my dad or anyone around, so I headed down the hill on foot to see where I could find my mate. I was just getting inside the resort when I heard Costin. "Hey sis, they just got here, headed up. Dad is with them." I walked over and he started to look up the room numbers for me. "They seem like nice people." He told me as I started to walk away and I smiled back at him. "See you for dinner." "Thanks Costin." I told him and he nodded back before looking around the main room. I got on the elevator, going down the halls, hearing some laughing just before I knocked I wasn't at all shocked to see my mate opening the door. "Hi there." "Hi, come in." He smiled at me and I smiled wide as he opened the door more and let me pass him. I saw my father, his aunt and uncle, and I just waved.  "Hi. I am Violet." I announced and his aunt smiled wide and came closer to me. "Call me Aunt Ruby. I am so happy the baby of my family has found his mate. He has been so lonely!" "Aunt Ruby." I heard Luka behind me and I smiled at her. "We all get lonely without our mates. I was the last in my family as well, I am sure my dad already told you that. Last of 9, being the 19th wheel is not easy." I laughed and waved her off when she gave me a sad expression. "It's so good to see him smile. He's been a sad-" "Ok Uncle." Luka cut him off as well and I felt his hand on my hip and I smiled. "Enough about what I was like before. This is my Uncle Dragomir." He told me and I smiled and walked to him and held out my hand. He shook it before bringing it up and giving it a kiss. "Lovely. Like all Romanians." He said and I noticed his wink to his mate and I smiled when she winked at me like she was happy to be just like me, a Romanian with a Russian. "I could have been deaf and mute and you would still call me lovely Drago." Ruby told him and I smiled before watching her melt into his touch as he pulled her closer. I did my own melting when I felt his lips on the top of my head. "So, did you find a dress?" I heard my dad and I looked over at him before nodding. "Yeah, it was actually cheap." I told him and he smiled. "And I used... I used his card like he told me to." I told him and winced as I saw something split in his eyes like he didn't like it but he wasn't going to argue about it now. "As he should, he makes his own money and we still have much to use as well for our families." His Uncle Dragomir said and smiled before he waved us to both sit down. I moved and sat between my dad and Luka. We were deep in conversation about what was already planned for the wedding, how would officiate, who would be here... food, dancing, stuff like that. His aunt and uncle seemed to be ok with the wedding, and I had to wonder if they got married since she was Romanian as well. When Luka asked, as if reading my mind, we got a full detail about how the King Alpha of Romania married them because she was a teacher for his kids. "I knew you were a teacher Aunt Ruby, but to the king?" "Well... I taught you and your brothers did I not? Do you think all that practice came from nowhere? That was how your uncle found me. He and your father had a meeting with our king..." She kind of trailed off as she looked at him, and I had to wonder why she paused, and then I realized it might not be a good memory. "Your father and I were walking down a patch of grass, discussing what to do with the treaty... and a little kid came around a bush, pushing his way through us, we knew right away it was the kings oldest, and then you came running right after him, you had paint on your face... out of breath, screaming the boys name... and then you looked at me and I forgot how to breathe." "You certainly did not. You growled out loud. You made the gardeners stop trimming the grass, the king came down just to make sure you were ok, and I didn't move an inch." "Ok, maybe the stillness was all in my head... but you my Ruby, were breathtaking." "With paint on my face?" She asked him with a laugh and I had to smile. They were so in love, they reminded me of my parents. I could see why my dad liked them so much already. I sat with Luka as they talked about their pasts, and I was so glad to feel so welcomed so fast. The rest would be a breeze, I was sure of it.
