MIRABEL
"This is when we're going to hold our wedding," Mother shared along with Mr Hallman.
They both returned back from their dinner this morning, after leaving Derek and I all by ourselves in the house.
After what happened between us, I couldn't stop staring at Derek.
He sat next to me while our parents shared their plans for their wedding to us.
"The engagement comes first. We can't forget that, " Mom said, chuckling along with her lover.
I smiled, navigating my eyes back at Derek.
He just sat next to me with that serious face expression he always had on.
He stared at our parents, before glancing my way, causing my heart to flutter.
I took my eyes away from him, trying to maintain myself around him.
It still makes me happy that I spent the night with my crush. The one my heart always beat for.
"I will note last night's event in my diary so I won't forget. It's going to be titled The best day of my life," I planned, giggling with joy.
"What's funny?" I heard Mom ask, jolting me out of my thoughts, only to find everyone looking at me, including Derek.
"Huh?" I uttered.
"I was asking you a question and you were absent minded. Is everything okay?" Mom asked.
My lips came spreading apart while looking Derek's way.
"What? " He asked, lifting his brow at me like one who doesn't give a damn about what is going on.
Though it felt embarrassing, I took it as his everyday behavior, facing my mom, and apologizing to her, "Sorry. I was thinking about something."
"Well don't cloud your mind too much, Mirabel. We are talking about something important here, " She said, clinging to her lover.
All I could do was smile and picture Derek and I holding each other like them.
When are we going to spend a day together again?
Once the meeting was over, Mr Hallman decided to leave for home with Derek.
"s**t, I forgot my bag. Mirabel, please help me out, " Derek said, heading back inside.
I did as he wanted, exiting my Mom and Mr Hallman's presence, following Derek.
The moment we entered my room, Derek grabbed me and pinned me against the wall roughly, leaving me stunned.
"What was that all about?" He asked in a scary tone, glaring at me.
I felt my body go weak as I asked, "What do you mean?"
"I saw how you kept looking at me during the meeting. Couldn't stop thinking about last night, huh?" He tightened harder, leaving me gasping out.
"Derek, my arms. You're... Hurting me, " I whined, feeling his grip.
"Listen, Mirabel," He called my name, grabbing my jaw.
"Whatever happened last night between us is in the past now. Take it out of your head and act like nothing ever happened?"
What? Is he serious?
He took his hands off me, passing another warning to me.
"You are going to be my step sister soon, so I advise you forget all that happened. If our parents should get a hint about it, I won't forgive you, " He threatened, pointing at me.
This ignited fear in my heart.
I never expected this from Derek.
He grabbed his bag from my room, storming out without looking at me.
When he left, I felt tears welling in my eyes over his action.
"So was last night nothing to him? Did I make a mistake by giving myself to him?" I sniffed, feeling my tears streaming down my face.
His words left me hurt, leaving me with no other choice but to accept the reality.
"How could you have been so stupid, Mirabel? He's going to be your step brother and you had to sleep with him. Gosh, I'm such a fool."
.
The following day at school, Mom dropped me off with her car before leaving for work.
I made my way in, spotting Derek with his friends, talking.
I gazed at him, remembering what happened between us, and feeling sadness taking over me.
It made me wish Mom wasn't getting married to his father and I was still crushing over him from afar.
But that night has changed a lot of things in me.
When Derek's attention fell my way, fear took over me at once, sending me facing forward with my head down, walking away with speed.
"You didn't see him. You didn't see him, Mirabel."
"Ouch! Are you blind?!"
My silliness got me into a bigger problem, and that's with Tania.
While trying to avoid Derek's eyes, I accidentally bumped into her, causing her to push me back from her point.
"I'm sorry, Tania. I didn't see you," I apologized to her.
But Tania wasn't going to let me off easily.
She and her friends surrounded me, blocking my path. She stood before me, crossing her arms, saying, "That's why you're a blind bat. Are you sure you didn't see me or it's your way to get my attention? Since that's what you've been doing, Miss Wannabe."
They poked me, pushing me around without caring if I'm going to fall or not.
I begged Tania for forgiveness, apologizing for hitting her, but she wasn't ready to listen to me.
When one of her friends pushed me towards her side, I accidentally pushed her back, causing her to stagger.
I gasped when I saw this, getting scared.
"Tania, I'm sorry. It was an accident."
"You're stupid if you think I'm going to believe that shit."
With rage, Tania stormed my way, raising her hand to strike me.
I saw my whole life flash before me, as I shut my eyes in fear, only to feel myself being pulled back suddenly.
"What the hell do you think you're doing to her?" I heard a deep familiar voice that got me opening my eyes and turning to look.
"Derek?" I gasp in shock.
My soon to be step brother had me in his arms, holding Tania's hand from touching me.
This left me stunned.
Tania and her friends stared back in disbelief, seeing the popular guy they always drool over, protecting me.
"Derek, I... It's not what you think. This annoying girl was messing with me, " Tania said, blaming me.
"Do you think I'm blind? I saw everything. If you ever touch my sister again, I won't spare you."
"Sister?!" Tania and her friends exclaimed, dropping their eyes on me.
Just like them, I was also blown by what Derek called me.
