Irma Sanchez had been Daniel"s fourth grade teacher when he had attended Ramona Elementary School before the Mendoza family moved to Chambers Lane. The school was located in West Hollywood on Santa Monica Boulevard, east of the 101 freeway. At that time, the Mendoza family lived on Serrano Avenue. Daniel and his older siblings would walk every school day the several miles from their home towards Western Avenue and then east along Santa Monica to get to school.
