Chapter 4

Derek's POV

"Amber come on your in no shape to drive" I said the pity no doubt written all over my face. "WHY BECAUSE MY SO CALLED BEST FRIEND JUST CALLED ME A w***e AND TRIED TO KILL ME!" She yelled as rain began to fall

"Amber please" I said trying to plead with her. "no, you know what" she said as she opened her driver's side door. "I dont need this" she continued getting into her car and slamming the door. "Amber!" I yelled as she turned on her car and pulled out then drove off.

a bad feeling began to build up inside. none of this was her fault. I knew I had a duty to stay at the dinner as Nathans beta but I was so pissed at him I didn't even care. I quickly shifted into my wolf form and took off running following her scent after a few minutes of running I heard a loud crash. my heart skipped a beat as worry for one of my closest friends filled my chest causing me to run faster. by the time I got there her car was upside down against a tree and there was a man standing over her. I didn't care who it was I quickly ran over to her and got in between them.

I growled at the mysterious man who I had only now come to realize was was a wolf, not just any wolf, the Alpha of the neighboring pack. "Beta Derek good to see you again" the Alpha said standing up. 'I take it shes a friend of yours' he said linking me. Alphas had the ability to mind link anyone from within their pack or not. 'coming late to the party as always' I linked back to him as I still stood in front of Amber. he was silent and just smirked. "you should hide" he said "I already called an ambulance it should be here soon" he continued straighting his face.

I just stared at him. "I won't hurt her don't worry, considering how fast she was going she still managed to avoid hitting my car I owe her a little for that" he explained

wee woo wee woo.

we heard the ambulance and I took off, not to far just enough to stay out of sight. "over here" Alpha Chris yelled as paramedics arrived in scene. they quickly loaded her on a stretcher. "no heart beat start chest compressions!" one of them yelled as they got her into the ambulance. 'did they say no heart beat' I thought to myself. I quickly turned and ran back to the pack house.

when I got there I found some spare clothes put them on and went back to the dining room. there Nathan was standing talking with his mate sort of comforting her. I walked up to him "Derek there you are where'd you go" he said as if nothing happened. I just stared at him for a minute "Respectfully" I said then punched him straight in the face.

"if she dies I swear to the moon goddess you will to" I told him as his face was filled with shock and now anger. "what the hell are you talking about?" Nathan asked. "I think I can answer that!" Alpha Chris said entering the dinning room. "Alpha Chris it's good to see you" Nathan said.

"I gotta say congratulations Nathan, I didn't think getting your mate would change you so much" Chris said arrogantly. "what are you talking about?" Nathan asked seemingly annoyed. "the reason your beta punched you, was most likely because the little witch that I assume left here not to long ago just got into a pretty bad accident" Chris said not hiding a single detail. "What?" Nathan said shocked.

"so the witch is dead who cares" Sarah said causing everyone to gasp and turn to her shocked. "HOW DARE YOU!" Ambers mother yelled at her father tried to hold her back from attacking her. "calm down Emily" his father said. "and Nathan how dare you, we watched you grow up along with our daughter and you throw her out and let your mate say such awful things, you don't deserve to work with our coven." her mother screamed. "of my baby dies I swear to all the gods I will kill you myself do you understand!" she cried as Ambers father began to drag her out.

Nathan hadn't said a word since he was told. was he blaming himself? I could only hope. it was completely and utterly his fault. he refused to talk to Amber then tried to kill her after his mate attacked her and she defended herself.

"everyone leave" Nathan finally said and anyone who was in our pack quickly left the dining room. "which hospital?" Nathan asked turning to me his eyes filled with worry. maybe he really was blaming himself for her accident. was he actually worried that she could die. "your not aloud to know" Chris said stepping forward and crossing his arms.

Nathans eyes quickly changed from worry to anger, as he took a step forward towards Chris. "And why the hell is that" he asked through clenched teeth. I could tell his anger was growing. but at the same time he didn't have a right to know. this all happened because of him. she might die because of him, what right does he have, she's not a wolf, she doesn't belong to this or any pack. and she isn't his mate.

"it's none of your business that simple, your the one who kicked her off your territory, no?" he said obviously baiting Nathan to say something. he didn't respond he just stared at him for a moment.

"how did you know that?" Nathan asked calmly. "I know everything" Chris replied tapping his temple causing Nathan to grow angry once more.

"where the hell do you get off saying this Sh*t in my territory!" Nathan snapped. "I have all the right, considering the person in question is my mate" he said with a Smirk.
