“Okay, we’ve put up the banner,” Mila says, biting her lower lip as she steps back to admire her handiwork. The banner, saying HAPPY BIRTHDAY EVIE, hangs proudly across one wall, its bright colours contrasting against the soft cream wallpaper of the living room. I glance around the room, taking in the growing number of decorations scattered about. “Time for the streamers!” Mila continues, her excitement barely contained. I tilt my head, frowning slightly. “Streamers? No, I don’t think we’ve got streamers,” I mumble, digging through the pile of bags and boxes we’ve accumulated.
