PROLOGUE
It’s raining heavily since the morning. The day appears to be darker than the night itself. The black clouds covering the blue sky but the press reporters stand alert in this rain, with the cameras ready, waiting for the major announcement by the CEO of GREY INDUSTRIES. The whispers linger outside the main entrance.
A thunderstorm strikes and the lightning flashes across the sky, reflecting the face of Ashton Grey in the glass pane. As he glances at the assembled crowd, a wicked smile erupts on his lips. Jonathan Ashton’s personal bodyguard waits patiently for his master’s order.
“Is everything ready?” Ashton asks in a serious tone.
“Yes, sir!” Jonathan replies.
“Great. Let’s go, now.” Ashton commands Jonathan to escort his team behind him.
Ashton walks to the elevator which takes him to the ground floor. As soon as he steps out of the elevator, he can hear the loud noises by the crowd. With each step, his confidence surfaces and Ashton looks like the god himself came out of the sky.
The bodyguards cover the entire patio and throw the crowd away from Ashton. The press reporters took their steps back as they saw heavily armed forces.
Ashton takes his place on the stage and puts his hands in his pockets. An assistant adjusts microphone on his shirt and left the stage to join the rest of the employees.
All the cameras focus on Ashton as he stands carefree in front of the reporters.
“Good morning! Isn’t it a great day to announce important news to the world? I am Ashton Grey on the behalf of my company, Grey Industries. Today is the day when the two, most talented scientists of America, will work with me to create a weapon which will change the vision of the world.” Ashton announces and the crowd cheers on the behalf.
The place lightens because of the flashes of the cameras, and Ashton continues, “Here, I welcome, Dr. Greta Portman and Dr Sanjo Sui.” Another round of applause by the crowd.
“Dr. Portman and Dr. Sui are working on the project of the deadliest weapon of the decade. This weapon will help in identify the supernatural entity of any origin and kills them within a fraction of seconds. No need of holy water, no silver or wooden weapons will require anymore.”
“Excuse me, sir!” one reporter raises her hand. Ashton allows her to speak.
“Are you suggesting us to stop using the traditional methods of killing demons and vampire and trusting your technology over them? Are you sure that this project will save humans? You have failed in creating such weapons before.” the reporter asks in confidence.
Ashton smirks and replies to the reporter, “Miss, until and unless we try to create something which is never done before, we will never know the extent of our ability. Grey Industries has created a lot of weapons which helps the military and the forces that are protecting our country. I know creating a technology to deals with supernatural entity is difficult but not impossible. I am sure that this weapon will create a history.”
The crowds cheers for the speech but the reporter seems to be unsatisfied. She asks a question again, “the total estimated budget of this project is 50 million dollars and we heard that you are funding the budget by yourself. Is the government against the project or you are doing some illegal business?”
The crowd goes silent on the question of the reporter and mummers linger in the hall. Ashton clutches his fist until the knuckles turn white. Every eye falls on the CEO, waiting for an answer, but Ashton remains silent on the topic.
The reporter smirks while looking at furious but helpless Ashton. Ashton calms his nerves and answers politely, “I don’t understand what you are trying to reflect, miss?”
“Alsea Winter.” The reporter gives her name.
“Miss Winter, what I am saying is that it doesn’t matter if the government provides the fund for the project or I provide the fund, both ways will accept the project. I will create an alpha product first, if it passes then the government will provide the fund of 50 millions. I hope you got it now. Anymore questions?” Ashton asks while grinding his teeth.
Alsea narrows her eyes but stay quiet and shook her head, “wait dear Ashton Grey, I still have the last bomb to drop on your head.” She thought in her mind.
Few other reporters ask Ashton about his project but Ashton’s eyes focus on a pair of light brown eyes. The fire is ignited and it will consume the world in its blaze.
“Thank you, everyone for coming. Have a great day.” Ashton ends the press conference but Alsea Winter cuts him in between.
“One last question, please!” Alsea smiles wickedly.
Ashton feels insecure about this but he had to take the risk. He nods his head in gesture her to continue, “Sure.”
Alsea smiles ear to ear and comes out of the crowd, “is it true that your former lover was an entity and killed by the group of hunters?” she drops her last bomb and waits for the explosion.
Ashton’s expression turns into an aggressive one and he throws a fit of rage in front of the crowd. The reporters approach Ashton to ask him questions about her former lover, but the bodyguards stop them outside. Jonathan and his team drag an aggressive Ashton inside the building.
“I will not spare you, Alsea Winter!” Ashton shouts at top of his lungs.
