The Chief smiled as he saw the entire scene of Johnathan and Farid escaping. He knew where they dumped the car and where they would possibly be. Getting them into the prison was the first step, he knew that the denons were a no match for Johnathan but he sent them anyway, hoping that they would escape. He wanted Johnathan to suffer and what better way to make him suffer than to watch him see the people he cared about die right in front of him. His plan was to make it impossible for Johnathan to get out in public by making him a wanted man and then kill Farid. Now that they were out in the open- it was open season, the police were looking for him and was vulnerable. This was the perfect time to attack and kill Farid, so he called his most trusted hitman for the job, the most dangerous and elusive, merciless and the one with a perfect record- the one they called- The Siberian!
This hitman was like a ghost, nobody has seen his face or met him, except for El Jefe. He had this obsession of completing every job he was given and he never failed his mission no matter how difficult it got and he found creative ways to do it. He would stalk and wait for days until his prey would come out of hiding and then he would strike. It was rumoured that he was so elusive that you could have seen and met him many times but still wouldn't recognise him- he knew how to blend in and use camouflage. No wonder he's still on top of the list on many intelligence agencies and wanted worldwide for more than a dozen murders. Now this man was sent a new target- Brother Farid- who was running from the police and hiding in the woods. This was going to be very easy for The Siberian- all he needed was a single shot to the head, from a long distance- How was Johnathan supposed to protect him now? Of course neither Johnathan or Farid had any idea of a hitman coming for them- right now they were focused on hiding and possibly getting themselves across the border.
Meanwhile, the forest was a treacherous place with it's rocky roads and thorny bushes and wild animals everywhere- they knew that they couldn't stay there for long, it was just a matter of time before the police find the abandoned car and expand their search towards the jungle. They had to keep moving ahead towards the mountain range and try to cross it and make it across the border to safety. The mid day sun was exhausting them, both of them were hungry and thirsty, it didn't seem like they could carry on for much longer- Johnathan could make it because of his extensive military experience but Farid was not used to such strenuous activities- he was more of an indoors guy.
"What are we doing? Where...where are we supposed to go now?" said Farid sitting down on a boulder.
"We have to get as far as possible from the city!" replied Johnathan pausing for a moment.
"Who's this Chief? What does he want from us? " asked Farid.
"I don't know Brother- but we can't get caught by the police again- c'mon we gotta keep moving-" replied Johnathan.
"Wait- wait- we won't survive in this heat- I mean I can't- we need a plan-"replied Farid.
"We just need to cross that mountain range- I know it's hard hut what choice do we have- Ah! I guess we should rest for a while- nobody can find us out here-" said Johnathan.
"That mountain? It's more than 20 miles from here- my feet are tired- you're right- we should get some rest-" said Farid.
"I've been thinking- doesn't it seem curious that the goons called me boss? They wanted me to look like I planned this whole thing and then escaped- This seems like an elaborate plan- someone out there wants me to look like the bad guy-" said Johnathan sitting down.
"It would make sense- since you're basically invincible- they are trying to ruin your image and isolate you so that you give up hope - I bet the one called Chief is behind this-" said Farid.
Suddenly they heard the sound of a helicopter in the distance. Both of them hid themselves under the rocks.
"It's the police- Damn! they're quick-" remarked Johnathan.
But unbeknownst to them, another trouble was also approaching him.The Siberian was already on their tail. He landed on the highway and went towards the thick woods after his target. He knew that he was on the right path because he saw some footsteps that leaded into the woods. This was already a good sign to begin with, he estimated that they were not more than 6 kilometres towards the east and based on the afternoon heat, they had definitely stopped moving by now. The jungle was his strength, he felt at home, this was his turf- it was only a matter of time before he would find them. He had his sniper rifle on his back he walked towards the general direction looking for more signs of his prey and soon disappeared in the woods.
"I don't think I can carry on like this-" remarked Farid.
"What do you mean? We can't turn back now!" replied Johnathan.
"No- let me surrender! You keep moving- I'd only slow you down!" said Farid.
"I'm not leaving you here- I'll carry you on my back if I have to-" replied Johnathan.
"Try to understand my friend- you can make it to the border, I'll distract them, they're already here-I'm sure they'll find us soon-" replied Farid.
"Tch! I know you're tired, get some rest- it's gonna be dark soon- I'll try to find something to eat- look there's a perfect hiding spot under those rocks- c'mon you can rest there-" he replied.
Farid followed him with great difficulty- he knew Johnathan was stubborn- he wouldn't listen- there's no way he would leave him behind.
A message flashes on the monitor screen- the Chief clicks it open- "The Eagle has landed!" - it reads.
