Chapter 95

5:00 a.m. Lisa’s House Johnathan woke up feeling fresh and energetic. He had slept on the couch and Lisa was still in her bed. It was a weekend, so he thought it would be better for her to get some rest. He took a piece of paper and scribbled down a note- “Got to go- Will call you later- Thanks for the help” With this he slowly exited her house- it was another cloudy day and he could see people jogging on the streets. He took out his phone and called Freddie, who immediately sent a car to his location to pick him up. He reached the HQ a few minutes later- Freddie informed him that the Elder Master would like to see him. Johnathan took a deep breath and went to meet him- he knew things were going to get a bit awkward with the master. “Take a seat Johnathan-“said the Master. “Your actions have caused a lot of confusion and chaos in our disciplined organization-“ he continued “You do not think much before committing an action-you’re impulsive- a loose cannon- this is a great threat to you and everyone around you-“ “Hey- I do what feels right at the moment- I don’t have time to think about bureaucracy and stuff- If you think I’m a threat to your organization, then I’ll leave immediately- I never asked for your help at the first place and I sure as hell don’t have to sit and listen to your speech-“he replied with some attitude in his voice. “Ah! Well, I never asked you to leave- you must understand that we’re working towards the same goal- which is rooting out the Darkness from this world- You’ve been bestowed great powers and all I’ve been trying to say is that you need to be a little more responsible with your powers and besides what you are able to do now is just the tip of the iceberg. We can help you achieve greater levels of power and believe me, you’re going to need it” said the master patiently. “What is the point of all this? I’m supposed to be finding out who’s behind the attacks, if I waste any more time then there might be another attack-“he replied. “The point I’m trying to make is that we can provide you with more help than just transportation- you need to trust us and work with us-“said the Master. “All right- I’ll let you know when I go on a hunt next time-“replied Johnathan nonchalantly. Suddenly Freddie rushed into the room- “You should see this-“he said to the Master. They went into the tech room and looked at the huge monitor screen- their mouths opened wide as the scenes unfolded on the news. Every financial institution in the city was robbed at the same time. There were twelve banks in the city and it seemed that all have been robbed around 5.30 in the morning. The robbers cleared out millions of dollars and almost emptied them out leaving behind little evidence. The security guards that resisted were either knocked out or killed and since it was early in the morning therefore there weren’t any customers- or else the fatality rate would have been higher. How they did it, nobody knew? The CCTV cameras were turned off and they entered and exited the banks like ghosts. The financial system in the entire city was crippled and there was chaos everywhere. People were freaking out about their money and were protesting and asking questions. Every cop in the city was looking for the robbers but it seemed that they’d disappeared into thin air along with the money. “This is impossible! How do they transport so much money through the city without being discovered? This looks too organized- someone has planned it too carefully-“Freddie remarked as he scrolled through the information on his computer. “It is strange but I don’t think that these are your typical run of the mill robbers!” remarked Johnathan. “What do you mean?” asked the Elder Master. “You see, they entered and exited the banks without being noticed and transported millions of dollars just like that- does this look normal to you?” replied Johnathan. “So it’s got to do with something supernatural? That’s why the cops can’t find them!” Freddie remarked. “And they never will! They are trying to find humans when they should be looking for demons and monsters!” said Johnathan. “So what are these things? Demons can do this but it would take a lot of them to accomplish this and if there were a major congregation of demons then our radars would have picked something ” Freddie remarked. “What do you think Elder Master? What has a taste for money or gold and can vanish into thin air?” asked Johnathan. “God no- not Djinns!!” replied the Master. “Djinns? They exist too?” Freddie asked. “Of course they do but we haven’t heard of them in a thousand years- these beings are primitive- very dangerous and powerful and believe me you don’t want to mess with them-“replied the Master. “Wait- Djinns? I’ve heard of them in folklore when I was posted in the middle-east but it doesn’t make sense that they would suddenly appear in our city and rob banks? Why would they? Is someone making them do it?” asked Johnathan. “Yes it doesn’t makes sense- Djinns can’t be ordered to do anything- they are their own masters, not like the fairy tales of Aladdin and the magic lamp, they don’t grant wishes, instead if you try to mess with them, they’d probably devour you- God! This is really messy- we need to get to the bottom of this quickly- Freddie?” replied the Master. “On it Boss! I’ll let you know if I find anything-“replied Freddie and started typing furiously on his keyboard. “I need to get on the ground- look for clues-“Johnathan remarked. “Wait! Let it get dark- it’s not safe- you could get caught!” said the Master. Johnathan stopped and thought about it for a minute but went out anyway. Raven was watching the after effects of the robberies- another successful mission- “Red Rover, Red Rover, send one right over-“she whispered as she watched the news.
