Chapter XLII: Sadhu

“Oh, no, we are doomed! What are we going to do now?” cried out Raza.   “Quit your whining, let’s go deeper into the forests, there’s no way we are surrendering,” replied the Princess.   “And- the Thug is also dead, so you are running out of options,” cried out the chief.   The Princess froze in shock, Kali was dead? They killed him? But- he was supposed to be the strongest of them all. How are they supposed to take on these mad group of Thugs all by themselves? She began to feel sad for Kali, he was a good man and a great fighter. But she wondered what they were supposed to do now. Carey had become unpredictable, maybe he could fight but he did not know how to summon his abilities and she won’t be able to take on all of them at once. They had to come out with a plan. The Chief leader wanted them alive for some reason, maybe he wants Carey to lead him to Shamballa.   “Princess, I say we try to make a run for it, there’s no time to waste, come- we will go into the forest like you suggested,” said Carey.   Meanwhile Ashanti was getting bored.   “Hey, Chief, enough with this chit-chat, you know that they won’t surrender, why you being so soft? Let’s gut them right where they stand!” she said.   “Calm down, I have plans, I want that foreigner alive,” he replied.   “Your men will take too long to find them, let me go, and I swear I won’t try to gut them alive!” she said with an evil grin.   The chief nodded and she went riding into the jungle on her horse. The men lined up the foreigners and made them kneel down in front of the chief- they were about to be executed. But there was someone else that nobody noticed- The Dutchman, the most dangerous assassin alive- although not as deadly as Ashanti, he was patient and stealthy, which was why he always finished all his jobs without fail. Among all the chaos, he managed to procure his luggage and get out of the scene without being noticed. He was perched up higher on some rocky cliff, with his custom made silver sniper rifle- the most advanced at that time and was peeking through the scope, scanning the men. Although his objective was to see that Carey does his job and finish him later, he had to get rid of the Thugs because they were an obstacle between Carey and his goal. He thought that the sooner he clears Carey’s path, the sooner he completes his mission and he gets to kill Carey.   “Auf Wiedersein!” he said and began shooting from the vantage point at the Thugs.   The Chief was shocked as his men crumbled down one by one to the ground. The shots echoed through mountains and soon more than half of his men were either injured or killed. The Dutchman stopped for a moment to refill his magazine while the Thugs began to scatter in fear. The Chief yelled at the remaining men to run for safety while he himself galloped off into the bushes. But the Dutchman had his scope fixed on him. Without wasting a second, he fired again and the Chief was immediately shot down and fell down his horse…   Ashanti heard the shots too but she didn’t care, she was out for blood and she wanted revenge for her humiliating defeat earlier. On the other hand, Carey and the Princess watched in surprise as the Thugs were being shot at. They both wondered who was helping them. While they watched, Ashanti used her powers to sniff out Carey. She was about a kilometer away from them.   “The Thugs are scattering, should we try to run towards the train?” asked the Princess.   “But who is helping us, I don’t think he or she really cares about us and is just here to get rid of the Thugs- maybe they are with the government- maybe Cunningham’s men, we should remain hidden or better yet, get to a safer place,” he replied and everyone agreed. But Ashanti’s eyes grew dark as she summoned her powers and tried to visualize Carey’s location. She sent out a wave of dark energy across the jungle. The Dark energy hit Carey and he immediately felt a chill down his spine. Ashanti knew where he was now. “Something’s wrong,” remarked Carey rubbing his temples.   “What do you mean?” asked the Princess.   “I dunno- I feel sick, look my hands are getting warm,” he replied.   Ashanti was running towards him at full speed but Carey was having another one of his seizures. Actually it was his abilities that was getting activated. He was yet to know this but whenever there was dark forces around him or his life was threatened, the pieces of the Orb would protect him by giving him powers that would help him fight the darkness.   “Come on Mr. Carey, we got to go,” said the Princess.   “No- she’s coming, I can feel her- the dark energy- you take these two and find a safe place, I have to face this and end it,” replied Carey.   “What? No, if it’s the same witch from before than you will surely be hurt,” the Princess disagreed.   “Just have faith in me, believe me, it’s the only way, now please run,” he insisted.    The Princess and the two men, left Carey alone and ran towards safety. Even though she didn’t want to leave him alone to fight the witch, she knew it was the only way to make him realize how to use his powers…   Carey stood up and felt the warm blood rushing through his veins. He stood up and waited for the Black Witch to come to him. A strong gust of wind brushed his head as he stood there with his fist tightened, in a beige shirt and grey pants. His blonde hair shuffled in the wind and smooth face glistened through his beard. He was having flashbacks of his past life- “Sadhu, my name’s Sadhu,” he murmured.
