Chapter 9

*Nadia’s POV* Goddess, I can’t believe I slept with Caleb. “Oh, my goddess, Nadia! It’s not like you guys actually slept together. Unfortunately.” Ambar sighed dramatically. “Would you go away, woman.” I grumbled as I got dressed. It took me almost an hour to get away from Caleb. He didn’t want me to leave the bedroom in just a robe like I hadn’t gone to his room in the same. My bedroom was only one floor away anyway. But even then, he made me wear an excessively large shirt and shorts. I thought it looked silly, but it was the only way that he would let me leave. I pulled up the high-waisted jeans that Kimberly lent me. Goddess, they were tight. Who wears these anyway? I would like to stick to my baggy clothes, but we left all of our clothes behind after the attack. I sighed when I grabbed the small pink cloth that she gave me as a shirt. Supposedly they call it a crop top, but it just looks like a wolf ate half of the shirt. I rolled my eyes as I put it on and faced the mirror. “Dear goddess. Too much skin!” I said as I looked in the mirror, pulling the shirt down. The stupid shirt wouldn’t stretch and it just rode right back up, which barely covered my bra. I grumbled when I realized that it was useless to fight it. I grabbed the white converse before walking towards the bed. I quickly put the shoes on and stood on my feet. First things first, I needed to go through the boxes of clothes around the pack house. There was no way that I would continue wearing Kimberly’s clothes. I walked towards the door just as I heard a knock. I grabbed the doorknob, expecting to find Kimberly, but to my surprise it wasn’t. Ambar was quickly on alert, begging to take over. The stupid she-wolf had the nerve to look at me in disgust, making me bare my teeth at her. “What do you want?” I asked her. “You can’t give me what I want.” She said, rolling her eyes before pushing herself into my room. I mean, the room that I was staying in. “I don’t really care, but I have a feeling that you will want to share it with me anyway.” I said through gritted teeth as she swayed her hips all the way to my bed. Damn it! I mean the bed in this room. “I wanted to make a truce with you.” She smiled innocently, making my stomach turn. “I don’t trust her or like her. Let me at her.” Ambar growled. “Down girl. I got this.” I told her. “I’m only one shift away.” She sighed before retreating. “And what makes you think that I am interested in making a truce with you?” I asked her as I crossed my arms over my chest. She squinted her eyes towards my arms as I was crossing them. Shīt. She probably saw the mark. I cleared my throat nervously, gaining her attention again. “Well, if we make a truce, I won’t have my pack and our allies kill Caleb.” She said with a smile. At the sound of her threatening to kill my Caleb, I almost ripped her throat out. I mean, Caleb. Not mine. Ugh! I’m already feeling possessive over him. “You act like he is weak.” I replied, rolling my eyes. “I may be new around her, but his aura is way more powerful than anyone I have ever known.” “True.” She smiled as she filed her nails. Where the heck did she get that nail file from? ‘Focus, Nadia!’ I told myself. “But a powerful alpha is nothing against multiple alphas and a lycan.” She said, making my eyes grow wide. “Ly-c-c-c-a-n-n?” I stuttered. “Oh, I’m sorry. I guess I didn’t mention that my father has alliances with lycans. Something about my aunt’s cousin being one.” She said as she tapped her chin as in thought. Stupid bītch. “What do you want?” I asked her. I almost. Almost gave in to the stupid mate bond. “I want to be luna.” She said with a smirk as she stood up. “Okay? So, be a luna.” I told her in confusion. “No, I want to be Caleb’s luna.” She said as she got in my face. Caleb’s luna? As in my Caleb? My head tilted to the side as I glared at her. “You can be his side bītch. I don’t m—“ She was saying when my hand gripped her throat tightly, lifting her in the air. “You have some nerve!” I growled as I tightened my hold around her neck while her feet dangled helplessly. “YOU DARE WANT MY MATE! MINE!” I growled before throwing her across the room. I was heaving as I approached her slowly. Her eyes were about to pop out of her head. “Alpha’s daughter, my asš!” I said darkly as my desire to end her life grew. I was about to charge at her when I heard something behind me. As soon as I turned around, I noticed Caleb, Kimberly, and a few others that I didn’t recognize, standing there with their mouths open. “I can explain.” I blurted out quickly. *Caleb’s POV* As soon as Nadia left my room, I took a quick shower and got dressed in my usual dress shirt and slacks. I had a meeting in a few minutes before I could go find my mate. Beau and I already miss her and her scent. We had her in our arms. All night. It was the best fūcking night and morning of my life. I ran inside the kitchen to grab a coffee and something to eat before my meeting. “You’re late.” Kimberly whispered as she handed me my coffee. “It’s so unlike you.” “I know.” I smiled before sipping my coffee. She sniffed the air before her eyes grew wide. “She was with you, wasn’t she?” She asked as a smile crept on her face. “Why is my beta such a gossip queen?” I teased, shaking my head as I grabbed a bagel. “Fine! But after the meeting, I will get it out of her myself.” She said before sticking her tongue out. We walked towards my office where Kimberly’s mate, my gamma, and my father awaited us. “Were you able to set up the other meetings with the other alphas?” I asked her as I took my seat. “It was short notice, but I did get a few confirmations already.” She said as she sat on her mate’s lap. They were not shy about PDA. “Good.” I smiled before turning to the others. “What is this about, Son?” My father asked as he crossed his arms. “I found my mate.” I told them proudly. “That’s great!” My dad said as he walked towards me, pulling me into a hug. “Congratulations, Bro.” Brett, my gamma, said. “But…” He was saying with brows furrowed before I lifted my hand up. “That’s why I ca—“ I was about to say when the ground shook. “What the fūck?” Kimberly asked as she stood on her feet. “YOU DARE WANT MY MATE! MINE!” We all heard as loud as day. I immediately recognized that voice. That was my mate. Who dared anger my mate like that?! Before she was even done speaking, I raced out of my office and up the stairs. I ran as fast as I could with Kimberly and the others hot on my tail. It was maybe seconds later that we reached Nadia’s bedroom. The door was open already, allowing us to run right in. When I looked at her, my eyes grew wide. She wasn’t in danger, thank goddess. But I couldn’t say the same for Annabelle from hell. “I can explain.” Nadia blurted out as soon as she turned and saw us all standing there, glued to our spots.
