‘I can do this! I’m good at this, and this is for my family!’ Dallie’s self-pep talk in her head, but her heart was pumping hard against her chest.
With one last look at herself in the mirror inside the small messy dressing room, she could not believe it was her. She looked different in red skimpy and sexy underwear, with a spaghetti-strapped, red see-through sparkly mini dress on. It was paired with red strappy stiletto heels that emphasized her smooth legs. Her hair was in a high, tight ponytail. Meanwhile, her smoky makeup highlighted her brown cat-like eyes that looked so seductive and made her normal lips appear dark red and full.
The twenty-year-old young woman heard a whistle coming from her friend, who peered from the doorway. She could hear the upbeat music in the background, as well as the noises coming from the customers’ chatter and laughs. It was not exactly her first night at the nightclub. However, it was her first time performing as a professional tonight, and it was already five past ten when she glanced at the wall clock.
Well, if it was not for her bloody misfortune, she would not be here at all and not break any personal moral code.
“You look great, Dallie!” Nyra praised her with a broad smile and admiration in her dark eyes. “Are you sure you’re ready now?”
Dallie swallowed hard and took a deep breath. “I should be. I have no choice, do I, Nyra?” She slightly made a face at her friend.
The short-haired woman stepped into the dressing room. Dallie noticed Nyra was wearing a sexy black cocktail dress and cigarette heels herself. The latter had been working at the club for a couple of years now⸺at nights. During daytime, she would pour her soul into studying just like her. They were classmates at a state university, in their final year, taking up the Programming Analyst course.
“Aunt Dolly’s waiting for you. She says you have your first customer tonight. Will you be okay for thirty minutes in the VVIP room?”
“What? Thirty minutes? Alone in a VVIP room?” Her eyes went round. “Why a VVIP room?”
Nyra nodded, pouting. “You’re special, my friend. If the customer likes you, you might get another half an hour extension or more than that. That’s like you’re in a pole dancing class.” Her friend giggled.
Dallie’s lips parted. “But isn’t it too much? I mean, it’s just my first night⸺”
“Dallie! Hindi ka pa ba tapos diyan? Naghihintay na sa ‘yo ang mga customer! (Aren’t you ready yet? The customers are already waiting for you!)” Aunt Dolly pushed the door wider, and her glance bounced from her to Nyra. “Nyra Santos, ano na ngayon ang sinasabi mo sa kaibigan mo, ha? (What are you telling your friend now, huh?)” she added in a demanding tone.
Nyra shrugged. “I’m just telling her all the basics, Aunt Dolly. Certainly, no touch! If there is, it’s a hundred dollars more. Two hundred dollars per stroke, and a thousand for a kiss.” She giggled.
Aunt Dolly hit her on the back of her head. Nyra stopped giggling.
“What?” Nyra frowned at her aunt.
“Dallie isn’t you. She’s just going to dance tonight!” Aunt Dolly said, her face sour. “Come on. You’re already late, Dallie,” the woman in her fifties ushered her toward the VVIP room.
The hallway was a little narrow and dim-lit. With the music in the background, Dallie’s heart pumped so hard, especially when they reached the end of the hall. It said “VVIP” in red lights.
The nightclub owner knocked on the heavy wooden door and pushed it, ignoring the lean man who stood some meters away from it. Dallie’s eyes were greeted by two foreigners seated on each of the long cream-colored sofas. In the middle of the room was a pole on a round platform.
“Sorry for being late, gentlemen. Dallie’s all yours now,” Aunt Dolly said with a sweet smile.
Dallie began to panic, when her eyes gravitated toward the darkest blue eyes she had ever seen. Her breath hitched, and her heart kicked her chest the hardest at that very moment.
She spun around to speak with Aunt Dolly, but the latter had already closed the door.
And there was a sudden silence inside the VVIP room. The smell of a rich man’s perfume invaded her olfactory system when she drew a deep breath. She was still aware of that man’s eyes appraising her, which made her feel conscious for some reason⸺unlike the other man’s in the room. There was something different in the man’s dark blue eyes.
‘Which of them wears this really nice perfume?’ she wondered, despite her racing heart.
“Bonjour, magnifique!” The man with dark blue eyes drawled. His globes appraised her, while the other man just grinned at her with such friendliness. “Leave us, Theo,” he added, turning his head to his companion, whose jaw dropped.
Dallie’s own jaw slackened at those words, and a small gasp came out of her mouth.
“Tu es sérieux, Grégoire? Tu es sûr de toi? (Are you serious, Grégoire? Are you sure?)” Theo asked with a grin.
The man called Grégoire just tilted his head as a sign and as an answer to Theo’s query.
She could only gape at Theo standing and moving close to her.
“Please take care of my friend, sexy,” Theo murmured in her ear before he went away and left them.
Now, she knew whose perfume it was she liked, and it was this man that was left in the room with her. She could not believe she was alone with the hottest and sexiest man she had ever seen in her entire life.
‘Now what am I going to do?’
