Dave groaned loudly as he slumped into the comfy sofa in his house, his body aching and screaming at him after being stressed for so long. He glanced at his phone, willing it to ring. His mother had promised to call him today, and he was desperate for some good news. He knew that he shouldn't expect much from it but he had a little hope. As if on cue, his phone buzzed, and he saw his mother’s name flash on the screen. He picked it up immediately. "Mom, did you talk to Cassidy? What did she say?" he spat out without bothering to beat about the bush. "Dave, I spoke to her," his mother said, her voice tinged with resignation. "But she didn't take it well. She’s still very hurt. Cassidy's mum and I tried to reason with her, but she’s adamant about keeping her distance." Dave's heart sank
