"Cassy, are you sure you don't want me to come with you?" her mum asked, concern etched on her face as Cassy zipped up the last suitcase.
"No, Mum. I'll be fine. I need to do this on my own, I was always on my own" Cassy replied, her voice steady and a brave smile on her face "Besides, I've got Ryan with me. We're just going home."
Her mum sighed, clearly unhappy but respecting Cassy's decision.
"Alright, but call me as soon as you land, okay?" Her mum said, wrapping a hand around herself.
"I will," Cassy promised, pulling her mum into a tight hug. "I'll miss you."
"I'll miss you too, sweetheart," her mum whispered, her voice breaking slightly. "Stay safe."
Cassy gave her dad a hug next, his usual calm demeanor cracking as he held her tight.
