Chapter 15 It was nearly lunchtime by the time I came back in my front door, so it was scarcely surprising to find Nilda and Kara in my kitchen making sandwiches. The amount of sandwiches was a surprise. They were covering my largest serving platter with a towering pyramid of them. And these weren't dainty finger sandwiches, either. These were thick slices of meat and cheese between equally thick slices of dark rye bread. "Why are you feeding an army?" I asked from the kitchen doorway, and they both jumped. "It's not quite enough for an army," Nilda said defensively. "Are you really that hungry?" I asked. "You have guests," Kara said as she picked up the platter and swept past me to bring it out to my great room. "Guests?" I asked Nilda. "Thorbjorn and Thorge are here," Nilda said.
