Elena—POV
As I caught sight of the hallway scene, the trail of blood leading to Mr. Ford's door, my senses went on high alert. Could Mr. Ford be in danger? I quickly grabbed my cell phone, preparing to call for medical help. But before I could even knock on his door, it swung open to reveal Mr. Ford, shirtless and with his shorts riding low on his hips. His gaze held me captive, and I couldn't help but gulp at the intensity of his appearance.
"Come in, Elena," he said, his deep voice making my hormones go overdrive. As I entered his luxurious apartment, Mr. Ford's hungry gaze never left me. I averted my eyes, taking a deep breath to steady myself.
"What brings you here?" he asked, walking closer until he was standing uncomfortably close.
"Are you okay?" I finally managed to ask. "I saw the blood and fur in the hallway."
His eyes briefly dilated as he looked at me, and then he asked, "Did you hear anything?"
"Of course I did! The animal growls were hard to miss," I replied, wondering how the guards below the building had missed it. "I don't understand where this wild animal came from. It's strange. Why do the blood trails end at your door?"
I paused, my curiosity getting the better of me. Mr.Ford ocean-blue eyes changed to a lighter hue as I spoke, and then he groaned in pain, staggering back a few steps before his eyes turned golden.
"Mate…" His hoarse, animalistic voice made me freeze in place. My back pressed against the wall. "Human Mate, you are a peculiar one."
"What... the hell is wrong with you…" I managed to say, even as his hot breath tickled my neck and his large index finger pressed against my lips. My heart raced as his touch sent shivers down my spine.
"Mr. Ford... you are scaring me," I said, even as I felt the opposite. His eyes bore into mine, and his closeness made me weak in the knees. But somehow, I managed to stand my ground.
"Don't lie to me, El. You like my touch," he said, his hands slowly tracing the back of my hand, his gaze fixed on my barely covered bosom. I could feel my n*****s hardening under his intense scrutiny, and it was hard to suppress my blush.
"You want me to stop, El?" His hoarse voice asked, even as his touch ignited the wildfire of passion. It felt like paradise, yet my inner voice warned me to pull away.
"No, Elena, don't fall for this s**t again," I scolded myself, pulling away from his touch. His eyes flickered with sadness momentarily, and I wondered if I'd imagined it.
"I need you to step away from me," I said sternly. Mr. Ford's golden eyes bore into mine for a few seconds before he stepped back.
"Tell me the truth. Are you human? How can your eye colour change?" I asked, my curiosity getting the better of me.
"El, you don't want to know who I am. It may scare you," he replied, smirking slightly.
"Try me, Mr. Ford. I can keep a secret," I said, walking towards him to show him that he didn't scare me. He sipped from his whiskey glass, eyes scanning me from head to toe, and I tried to stand firm under his gaze.
"El, go, or else I can't control myself and hurt you," he said, struggling with some intense emotion I couldn't comprehend.
"Mr. Ford, please tell me what's wrong," I urged.
"Elena shut up and leave," he snarled, his animalistic roar making me cringe as I stumbled back two steps. The room seemed to have sucked all the air out, and a sharp pain shot through my head, blurring my vision. Mr. Ford gently placed my head against his rock-hard chest, and a warm hand came to rest on my waist.
"Sorry, Elena," he muttered, his voice barely audible before darkness swallowed me.

Silas—POV
Yuri stepped out of the bedroom, her body coated with blood after killing a rogue attempting to enter Elena's apartment.
"Did you put Elena in bed?" she asked, concern etched on her face.
I nodded, angry at my wolf, Ray, who had almost revealed our true identity.
"Is she okay?" Yuri inquired.
"Elena passed out because Ray almost tried to mark her," I explained, knowing Yuri already understood. My magic made her faint, and I used it to regain control over Ray.
"Her human frame can't withstand magic. It's strange how humans can tolerate it," Yuri muttered, pausing as she glanced at the bedroom where the rogue wolf lay dead in a pool of blood.
"Dispose of the body and make sure there's no trace in the hallway," I ordered. Yuri nodded and left to do as I commanded.
"So, you'll act as if tonight never happened?" Yuri questioned when she returned. I sighed, knowing that if Elena asked me about tonight's incident, I would have to pretend it never happened.
Yuri implored, "Alpha, can you make me Elena's bodyguard, so I can protect her when you're not around?"
"No need, Yuri. Who will look after the pack in my absence?" I countered.
"What about the meeting with Alpha Theo? You won't be next to Elena?" Yuri asked, her tone indicating that she was becoming frustrated.
"I'll call Alpha Theo to reschedule," I replied, knowing Yuri was growing too attached to Elena.
Yuri stormed out of my penthouse, slamming the door behind her to clean the hallway mess. I looked at the document on my desk and traced the engraving, reminding me of Elena's hazel-brown eyes and smiling face.
"Ray, you dare to take over me," I growled.
"I did the right thing. You're a coward; that human needs to be mated. We need an heir," Ray snapped back.
"Ray, I warn you, don't cross the line," I seethed, but he snorted.
"Or what? You can't do anything without me," he said smugly.
"Are you forgetting, Ray? My bloodline holds a sliver of magic," I reminded him, angry at his attitude.
"Mix blood, bastard," Ray grumbled.
"Go away, asshole. I'm not in the mood to chat," I growled as Ray blocked me so we couldn't communicate.
The question was how to be around Elena, as she had declined my offer. I had a trick up my sleeve. I smirked at the idea that Elena wouldn't be able to refuse and would have to accept me as a half-partner in business.
