Elena -POV
I sat up on the couch and noticed an empty whisky bottle. Great, that explains my intense headache - it's a hangover. I struggled to find some medication to ease the pain, but after a few minutes, I managed to locate some. As I looked around the messy room, the doorbell rang, and I knew it was my maid. I opened the door to find Mr. Ford dressed impeccably.
"Still hungover," he said coldly.
"No s**t, Sherlock," I snapped, worsening my headache. He frowned at me for lashing out.
"I came here to talk business, but it doesn't seem like the right time."
"Wait, don't you dare walk away from me," I growled. Mr.Ford ignored me and stepped into the elevator. I followed him in, and he gave me a glance from head to toe. I saw myself still in camisole-laced pyjamas, which showed too much skin. I didn't care, though, as I was more focused on getting his answers.
"You're so eager to know," he said, sounding unexpectedly sexy and deep. I couldn't help but stare at him.
"Of course I am. You came last night to discuss the same thing," I replied. He nodded.
"I wanted to say..." Suddenly, the elevator stopped, and I panicked. I'm claustrophobic, and the feeling of being trapped was overwhelming. Mr. Ford noticed my distress and held me close, his warmth and scent calming me down. As I looked up at him, I couldn't help but notice how handsome he was. He could easily be a model or an actor.
The elevator light came back on, and the door opened to the gasp of someone. I turned to see a building resident snapping a picture of us with his phone. I was still in Mr. Ford's arms and quickly distanced myself from him, feeling embarrassed.
"Hey, delete the picture," I demanded.
"Hell no, abusive b***h. I'm going to make a quick buck," the resident retorted. Mr. Ford stepped out of the elevator, and I followed suit. He snatched the phone from the resident and slammed him onto the floor.
"If you say one more word, I'll make sure you regret it," Mr. Ford threatened. The resident backed away, looking scared.
"Elena, I suggest we talk another time," he said coldly, reverting to his business-like demeanour. He took off from the stairs, heading towards the parking lot. I went back to my apartment, feeling embarrassed and confused.

Silas - Pov
"Ray, don't you dare push me back and take control of me," I seethed.
"f*****g human, dare to mock our mate," he snarled at me.
"I had it under control. You didn't have to step in. We are in the human realm. We can't display our superhuman power," I said.
Ray snorted at my words. Luckily, Elena didn't see my eye colour change for a second, or she would have asked so many questions. It surprised me that my secretary found a penthouse next to Elena, which could be good or bad.
I'll help Elena with this mess her fiancé creates, and then I'll keep my distance from her soon. It will be for her good.
I drove to the office with a lot of pending meetings. Why was the image of Elena's frame pressed against mine popping up in my head? Her sweet honey scent was alluring. I couldn't think of another woman even though she was my second-chance mate. Maya was everything to me. Moving on from her is something I can't bring myself to do.
My phone rang, and I checked the caller ID: Mac. "Alpha, the elders want to meet Elena and take her to the Moonflower chapel to see if she's a late shifter."
"I doubt Elena is a she-wolf. I only detected her human scent and didn't sense any wolf power or faint energy," I explained.
"I will convey your words," Mac said.
"I get it. I'll try to bring Elena with me when things resolve around her," I replied, disconnecting the call. I parked my car at my office building. The staff looked at me with surprise and fear as I walked to my office. It's been three and a half years since I came to the human world.
I sat behind my desk and asked my secretary to get all the details about Elena. Elena's ex-fiancé was trying to stop her from working in the film industry.
"Mr. Ford?"
"What is it, Kate?"
"Mr. Smith is asking for a meeting." I raised an eyebrow in question. “Ms. Hayes’s ex-fiancé is here to see you.” The asshole must be here because of the investment I plan to invest into the movie in which Elena is cast as the actress.
"Send him in." This asshole dared to show up at my office.
