The connection was relatively clear the next day and it only took about thirty seconds of “Can you hear me? Can you see me waving?” before Neil and Austin got into the actual conversation.
“How are things going?” Neil asked.
“Well…we made the mistake of leaving Bunny alone for a few hours…”
Neil winced. “Oh, man, I am sorry in advance.”
“Yeah…y’see, we went to Erika’s cousin’s wedding reception, since we skipped the service and didn’t want to be completely rude. We were only going to be gone a couple hours and figured she would take a nap most of the time. I guess she’s still anxious about you, y’know, going away, because we came home and stuff had been knocked off every windowsill, like she spent the whole time going from window to window checking to see if someone was coming back.”
