Chapter 12
Neil’s homecoming was a big day. Austin gave Bunny a bath, gathered up all her toys and accessories, and went through all her tricks to make sure she remembered them. “I doubt you would hold still long enough to salute Neil when he gets back, but if you could, that’d be adorable.” Bunny didn’t answer him. She merely sat there with a panting smile, wagging her tail in anticipation of her next treat.
Erika had work, so Austin was alone when Neil came by to get Bunny. Austin spent nearly an hour checking his phone, looking out the windows, tidying the house, yet each task only whittled away a few seconds at a time and ironically made the wait feel longer.
