I shifted my position in the small, wooden, classroom chair. It had been a few years since I was short enough to manage comfort in one of these things. Now, in my first year of divinity school, I was seeing the world from a height of six feet two inches, and this chair was beyond ridiculous for me. I felt ridiculous in it. And it was only the second class of the fall semester. But I was not at the seminary today. I was in a classroom at New School, taking a course in acting. I felt another jolt. The third one. That was the third time the guy behind me had bumped into this silly chair. Maybe he, too, was very tall and didn’t know where to put his legs? I hadn’t noticed.
