THE PAST ADRIAN Vanessa stared at me wide-eyed as I ordered her to stay back. I could see it in her eyes how desperately she wanted to protest and possibly ignore my order but my eyes weren't letting her. For all her bravado, if there is one thing Vanessa excelled at, it's reading the room and logical thinking. She knows when to and when not to be stubborn.
