We get into the shower together and wash each other up. Jayce spends a little too much time on my chest, so turn around and have him get my back. He moves my hair out of the way, and he starts to trace my birthmark with his finger.
“Gwen have you ever met a fairy before.”
“No, have you?”
“Once, Gwen, before we go to breakfast, there is someone I want you to meet.”
“Is it a fairy?”
“No, but they are an important member of our pack. They have traveled all over and have met some of the best and most difficult characters. I think it would be good for you to meet him.”
“Well if they are important to the pack, I think that’s a good idea too. I don’t know that much about being a Luna, but getting to know the pack members is a good start.”
“I like the thought of you being my Luna. To finally have someone so perfect in every way at my side.”
He turns me around and kisses me.
We rinse off, and I run to my room wearing a towel. For clothes today, I decided on a yellow sundress with matching wedges for shoes. I braid up my hair again and add a little mascara and lip balm.
I hear a knock on the door, and it’s Jayce. He looks hot as ever, just wearing his casual clothes. It’s no wonder I got so far with him at this point. He is just so irresistible.
“Gwen you ready?”
“Yup!”
We walk out of the house and travel down to a cottage. Jayce knocks on the door.
When the door opens, a man with red hair and a mustache invites us in.
“Thank you, Isaac, for meeting with us on such short notice.”
“It certainly isn’t a problem, Alpha.”
“This is my mate, Gwendolyn.” He says, holding me in front of him.
“Gwendolyn it is such an honor to meet you. I would shake your hand, but I can tell you aren’t marked yet.”
“ Umm, nice to meet you too.”
“Now Alpha tells me you have a birthmark that is interesting. Could I possibly take a look.”
“I guess it would be okay.” I turn around and move my braid out of the way.
“Hmm.. Looks like one of your parents is a fairy, and by your scent, the other is a werewolf. It's incredibly rare, but your birthmark tells me all I need to know.”
“WHAT! Both of my parents were werewolves.”
“Were? I am sorry to hear that. I suppose that makes this much more difficult. Are you sure that you weren’t adopted?”
“ I look exactly like my father did, and I saw photos of my mom while she was pregnant with me.”
“Hmmm.. Do you have any special abilities or talents?”
“I… I don’t know what I would call it, but I can talk to some creatures. I have a phoenix as a friend.”
“Wow that astounding! I would love to meet them sometime. How about plants, can you talk to them?”
“No, not that I am aware of.”
“Have you tried to garden before?”
“No, I never had the opportunity.”
“Would you mind trying it now? Just so we can see if anything occurs.”
“Nothing is going to happen, but okay.” I think this is ridiculous. I am not half fairy. The mark is just a coincidence. My parents both shifted in front of me, and neither have a mark like mine. If this gardening will get them off my back, I will do it.
We gather outside, and he hands me a small hand shovel and a seed.
“Gwendolyn, go ahead and make a small hole here and place the seed in it.”
“I’m not an expert or anything here, but won’t this seed take more care than this?”
“Let’s not worry about it. It’s only a sunflower seed it won’t need much.”
I huff feeling like I am wasting my time. Plus, I am getting hungry. I wish we could have gotten some fruit or something on the way here.
I sit on my knees and dig a little hole. I don’t know how far to go but it doesn’t really matter since it won’t work. I drop the seed in and bury it. I look up, and I can tell Jayce and Isaac are communicating silently together. I still find it annoying like this day has been so far.
“I am done. Nothing happened.”
“stand back a little and will it to grow.”
I get up and back away, but how do I will it to grow? Do I yell at it or something. Maybe if I just close my eyes, he will think it’s what I am doing. I am so hungry.
“Well here goes nothing.”
I close my eyes and imagine myself eating an apple. I need to stop thinking about food. I need to think about this plant growing.
I feel the ground move under my feet, and it spooks me. I opened my eyes to see a full-grown apple tree where I planted the seed.
“What just happened?” My heart is beating so fast, and my mouth feels dry.
“Fascinating! An apple tree that ripe and everything.”
“You said that was a sunflower seed!” I say in disbelief.
“It was a sunflower seed. We’re you thinking of an apple tree when you planted it?”
“I was thinking that I wanted something to eat. An apple sounded good.”
Jayce reaches up and picks an apple.
“Here you go, sweetheart.”
“Is it safe to eat?” I ask him.
He takes a bite of the apple and licks his lips.
“That is without a doubt the best apple I have ever tasted.” He picks me another and hands it to me.
I take a bite, and he is right. They are Honeycrisp apples, and they are sweet and juicy. All three of us stand there eating our apples without a word until we are done.
“Do you believe you could be part fairy now?” Isaac asks me.
“I still don’t know. This all seems impossible to me.”
“There is one more thing we should do for your safety. I have a cabinet I need you to look inside of. “
Jayce grabs him by the shoulder hard. He looks p***ed.
“She can get hurt!” He yells.
