When he opens his door, he is surprised that I am waiting for him. I give him my signature mean mug look. I want him to know that I mean business. He lets out a deep, intense growl and appears in front of me before I can even blink.
“You know baby girl, I could just eat you alive when you look at me that way.”
“I want to know what you meant for real Jayce.” I try and stay stern.
He moves my hair to the side and leans down to my ear.
“About what?” he whispers and begins nibbling down my ear.
“You know” I managed, so squeak out.
“No, I don’t know” he says. He moves down my neck, pulling my head to the side using my hair. He hits a spot on my shoulder that makes me whimper. I try to bite my lip to suppress my moans.
“You.. said.. something!” What were we talking about?
“Why don’t you be a good girl and come eat the food I made us. We can talk later, okay, sweetheart.” He says, letting up on my neck. He looks at me in my eyes, and I look into his.
“Okay!” I say feeling hungry now.
“Good girl!” He says, walking me to the elevator. Thoughts of his cute nicknames and the ghost of his kisses swim around my head. I hug his arm, feeling content. All of that because I made a face. Wait one minute…
“YOU TRICKED ME YOU BUTT!”
“Did you just call me a butt?”
“Don’t change the subject again. What did you mean earlier? Is there a group of girls following you around this place, too, or something.”
He crosses his arms.
“I would prefer to speak of this after food.”
“You better not try to trick me again.”
“What are you going to do about it?”
“This!”
I start tickling under his arms, and he clamps them shut so I lose access.
“So we’re tickling now, are we?”
“Noo!” The elevator opens, and I dart out the exit, but he catches me and starts tickling my sides.
“HA!HA!HA! Let ha! Me ha! Go!
“Hmm.. Maybe if you tell me how handsome you think I am.”
“Super handsome, incredibly handsome!” I say in-between laughter.
“Would you say I am the handsomest guy?”
“Yes! God, like even just, please stop.”
He let’s go of me, and I try to dab the tears from my eyes without smearing my makeup. I haven’t laughed until I cried in. I don’t even know how long.
“God like even, I must be very handsome. “ He says smugly.
“Yeah and not at all conceited.”
“Do you need tickled again?”
“NO! no, I am sorry.”
He takes my arms and pulls me into a hug.
“I love your laugh.”
My stomach starts growling embarrassingly loud.
“I guess we can talk after we eat” I say to him.
He walks me into a dining room that is set up like a cafeteria, but all the furniture looks thoughtfully crafted. The tables and chairs are made from dark wood. The floor is wood, but there are matching floral rugs under each table. The best part of the room would have to be the antique looking chandelier.
“Have a seat sweetheart” Jayce pulls out a chair for me.
“Thank you” I say, sitting down and taking in my surroundings. It’s nearly 8, but there is still a bunch of people here.
“Be right back, baby!” He says and gives me a kiss that leaves me wanting more. As soon as he pulls away, I hear gasping and silverware fall to the ground.
I look around, and every single person is staring at us. Everyone is dead silent for a minute, but it feels like an hour.
“What’s happening?” I ask Jayce. Before he can answer, a couple of girls storm out.
A few people look away making eye contact with each other. Are they talking about me. Did I do something wrong? Am I not wanted here?
“Jayce maybe I should go.”
“please don’t, nothing is wrong they just have never seen me bring a girlfriend here, and they don’t know how to mind their own business.”
Just like that, everyone was moving and talking like nothing happened.
“I have to get our food, but I promise I won’t be long. No one will bother you.” He says, scanning the room with his eyes before going into the main kitchen.
I should have just asked to go with him. Now I am stuck here over dressed with no one to talk to. Guess it’s a little different from my normal under dressed with no one to talk to. I wish I had brought my phone so I had something to stare at.
A door opens, and I look up to see a guy walk in. He has shaggy brown hair and a long beard to match. He stops and takes a long look at me. I tuck my legs fully under the table, feeling a little uncomfortable. He looks like he is about to approach me, but another guy puts his arm out to stop him. He doesn’t say anything. he just shakes his head at him.
Thankfully, Jayce comes back out with plates of food, and a woman behind him brings our drinks.
“This looks delicious! You cooked this?” I ask as I look at our plates of steak, potatoes, and green beans.”
“I did, I even got most of the ingredients from our greenhouse. I hope you like your steak rare. Most werewolves do. Tell me if you need anything else or if there are any special meals I can make you in the future.”
“This is perfect, Jayce. Thank you so much.”
I cut a small piece of steak and pop it into my mouth. It tastes so unbelievably good.
Mmm.. “That is delicious!” I keep taking small amounts of everything, hoping to make the meal last. I savor every bite.
Sadly, it has to come to an end. My belly is full now, and I need a nap.
“Gwen how about I take you to your room before I make my night round. I can tell the storm is picking up, and I want to make sure everyone is safe.”
“Can we talk about what you said earlier.”
He huffs, knowing I am not going to let it go.
“I just meant that there are certain women who don’t understand no. They keep thinking they have a chance when they don’t. When you are the Alpha and have money, you get attention from women with not the best motives. I have past relationships that also didn’t end well.”
A part of me feels sick with jealousy that someone has got to touch and love him. The logical part of me can consider his age and that people with more normal lives also date a lot as teens.
“You have past relationships?”
“Sure, most of them I kept outside of the pack so when I found my mate it wouldn’t be so hard for them. Unfortunately, I did date as a teen, and some of those relationships still haunt me. You have a past too don’t you?”
“No, I told you I never felt safe with anyone.”
“What about those guys on your phone. I saw some of those texts. “ He says in a bitter voice.
I hug myself tight, internally hating myself for every picture I sent. Only if I knew where I was going to end up before I did it.
“Sorry Gwen, It’s none of my business.”
“No, I want to tell you. I am just ashamed of it.” He cuts me off.
“Let’s talk in the elevator it will be more private. “
We pick up our plates and carry them into the kitchen. Thankfully, we got there for the last run in the dishwasher.
Once we get onto the elevator, I try to start talking again. I take a second to choke down my emotions. I might be giving out smiles and even a little laughter, but I never cry. I put on a poker face and just stared at my feet.
“I never met any of those men. I had a year to get enough money to move out, and my job at the hardware store wasn’t going to be enough. It started out more innocent, but the more pressure they put on me and the more they upped the money, the more I gave them.”
“What did you give them?”
“Pictures, Of my naked body.” I feel like throwing up. I think he is going to hate me now. He doesn’t say anything for a moment, and I feel like I am going to have a heart attack.
“If you don’t want me anymore, I understand. I will leave..” He stops me from talking anymore with a kiss.
It’s sweet, hot, and tender. He wraps his arms around me, pulling me in closer. When the kiss is over, he still holds me.
“You were exploited, and that’s not your fault. I still see you as the most perfect sexy woman out there. Don’t you dare leave me because of this.”
“Are you sure you don’t think I am gross and stupid.”
“Baby weather or not, I think it, you are a Goddess. The fact that your birthday lands on a full moon and I won’t have to wait a second longer to have you is a gift “
The elevator opens, and he walks out with me.
“Can we just put this behind us? I just want to pretend it never happened.”
“ It’s all in the past now, baby. Go get some sleep, and we will have a good day tomorrow. I am going to make some rounds for about an hour and check on the pack members. The storm is getting a lot worse. I have my cell, so just call if you need anything. “
“Okay, please be safe.”
“You don’t have to worry about me, baby girl. Good night.”
“Goodnight handsome.” He gives me a kiss before taking off and leaving me alone I’m my room.
Well, not entirely alone. I see Goldie got out and is playing with her reflection in the mirror.
“Sorry I left you, Goldie. Once I figure out this being in a pack thing, I can take you everywhere I go.”
She doesn’t seem upset. This is the first home she has lived in. She is kind of the perfect roommate for the time being. She doesn’t need fed and doesn’t have to go potty.
Sadly, after an hour, Goldie falls asleep, and I am alone again. Without her chirps, the outside storm is all I can hear.
