An Enemy Alpha

Thea Jackson and Scarlett relieved me of my duties at breakfast time. As we sat and had breakfast together they filled me in on the ceremony. Luke’s new pack loved him, which was no surprise. I had had the biggest crush on Luke when I was younger. I used to dream of being mated to him, even though it would have meant not being luna I didn’t mind. He very clearly didn’t see me in the same way, we were just firm friends. I hoped he came for Scarlett’s luna ceremony next week, it had been so long since I saw him. I played with the beautiful locket around my neck. I hadn’t placed a photo in it yet as I couldn’t find the right one yet. Everyone had been working flat out to fit the ceremony in before Jackson went of to take part in the alpha of alphas tournament next month. This was a big deal. Dad had been alpha of alphas and it was expected that Jackson would win. Only the strongest alphas from the largest pack were able to take part. Iris’s mate Oliver would be going, I hadn’t seen him for ages but word was he was pretty strong now. It was well known that alphas get stronger once they mated with their fated mate. Some alphas had the belief that they needed to strong luna to get stronger, so would often choose a mate based on their breeding or rank. Hence why I was so sought after. While this was allowed you could only mark one wolf, so it was big decision. A mark was permanent only replaceable after death. Scarlett and I were going shopping for our dresses tomorrow to take her mind of everything, I had us booked into the spa for some R and R. With Patrick stationed outside we had a ball trying on dress after dress. I couldn’t choose between a light green chiffon type dress and a more daring silver dress with a split up one side. Seen as Jackson was paying I bought both, as I gushed over Scarlett in her cream dress. It was beautiful, long and flowing it clung to the curves she now had and the straps were decorated with flowers. Jackson would be even more memorised than normal. Maybe my mate would be at the ceremony, all the alphas would be invited. Well not all the alphas, there were a few we would class as enemies, so they wouldn’t dare come. After shopping we sat in the spa and chatted. I told Scarlett about my plans to start training again. She thought it was a great idea. Patrick was missing we were finished the at the spa, we headed to the coffee shop to wait for him. Scarlett was getting hot chocolate for us all when I saw a not too familiar face in a booth nearby. I did a double take when I realised I was staring at alpha Christian. He was thought to be one of the wolves responsible for the deaths of Iris’s pack, we had had the pleasure of meeting him once and it was safe to say he had not made a good impression. Why was he so far from his pack. I couldn’t see who he was with without moving and I had a bad feeling about this. I shrank back so I couldn’t be seen. He hadn’t met Scarlett before so I didn’t need to worry too much about that. Finally I could make out he was speaking to a shewolf, with short blonde hair. I could only partially see her so I couldn’t recognise her. They seemed deep in conversation. I didn’t notice Patrick arrive, but I saw Christian look up before I could pull him out of view. “Patrick, I think that’s alpha Christian.” I tried to urgently whisper. “What, where?” He craned for a better look. “I better get you two out of here,” he grabbed my arm. “No wait let’s see who he is with!” I tried to whisper. But when I looked over at the booth they had been at he was gone. “He’s gone.” I looked around to see if I could spot him leaving , maybe we could follow. “And so we are, get to the car now” Patrick grabbed Scarlett from the que she had just got to the top of and frog matched us to the car. “Can someone care to tell me what going on ?” Scarlett asked as we sped out the parking lot. “Christian, the alpha of Black Daimond ? I’m pretty sure I just saw him I that coffee shop. Why would he be so far from his pack. ?” Suddenly I had a flashback to the last time we sped away from a mall. I remembered the smash and the wolves attacking. I could taste the fear on my mouth as I recalled being grabbed and dragged away from Jackson towards their car. Then Bodhi, Iris’s youngest brother saving me from their grasp. I could hear my screams again as he lay lifeless on the floor. “Thea, Thea” I heard Scarlett worried voice penetrate the thick fog of my brain. “Patrick what’s happening, why isn’t she responding.” I shook my head to clear the fog, I could taste the salt of my tears on my face. Scarlett hadn’t been here when we were attacked, she hadn’t witnessed the panic attacks I had for months about them. It had been Jackson or Luke that had dried my tears. “It’s ok Scarlett. I’m ok.” I gave her a watery smile. “Let’s just get home.” Once we arrived at home I grabbed Patrick. “We start training tomorrow, I won’t need much of your time, even a hour.” To my relief he nodded and together we went to Jackson’s office to update him on this strange finding. Jackson I was worried when Thea told me what she had seen. She wasn’t a silly girl Thea, so if she saw Christian she did, but it made no sense why he would be in a coffee shop near us. His pack was miles away, and he wasn’t allied to any packs nearby. What unnerved name most was that he had appeared while there was these whispered rumours of a curse on the silver wolves. I had a bad feeling, that he was behind this rumour. I had tried to keep the colour of Thea’s wolf a secret but it was common knowledge now Iris was a gifted silver wolf. As we tried to keep her identity secret after her family was murdered I was a little worried that they might think that silver wolves originated from Silver Oak, putting Thea in danger. Thea and I were very close, when she had confined in me she felt like someone was watching her I increased the patrols. However nothing suspicious has ever been found. I did wonder if it was all in her head. It had been a pretty rough year, while Thea has sat out a lot of the drama around Iris, inevitably she used to spend so much time with her she had been dragged in. She didn’t have that warrior nature that Iris did, so probably didn’t cope as well. She spent half her time worrying about everyone else. I sat wondering what Christian could be up to now. I had hoped he would just go away after Iris defeated his powerful friend. I had also seen the preliminary list for the Alpha of alphas tournament. His name wasn’t on it. That could change as it was still over a month away. I needed to update Oliver, both he and my application had been accepted. I decided also to give Luke an update, he maybe needed to look out for anything going on between Christian and his new friend Edward.
