Who Is He?

I woke up today like every other but instead of most days, Nora had a chemo appointment. We were almost late but traffic was agreeing with s today.

"I got you a beanie," I said to my sister. "At first I couldn't find any that were black but we went to the front of Target and I saw that one so I got it so it matches with everything" I smile back at her. Nora got diagnosed with cancer last month it was two days before Thanksgiving. Like what's are you thankful for this year Aria nothing this year has just been shitty.

*a week later*

Have we're on the way to Nora's so we can bring her another chemo appointment Sarah said "Your mother said she is going to move back here so she can be with Nora." 

When she said those words I froze like the words were being blocked because of the reaction that would happen if it went through completely. But once it came through I was pissed. All the rage and sadness were rushing but I couldn't do anything so I put my air pods in and blocked out everything. I don't like to talk about my mom. I waited for her to show up and she never did.

Sooner or later I stopped caring. I got older and realized she is the reason I'm so screwed up. She doesn't even know who my dad is. How the hell do you not know? And how the hell do you give birth to three kids and one day f**k it I don't want them. Now the only reason she wants to come back is that my sister has cancer.

What about the birthdays, the grades, the boys and girls, the conversations the things mothers are supposed to be here for. Instead of coming back for all of your daughters you just come back for one as she needs you. I gave up on seeing her a long time ago and to be honest, I don't want to. 

As we pull into the valet parking at the hospital I push all those emotions to the side I don't feel like talking about it with Sarah. I walk to get a wheeled chair but I don't see any so I go into the building to see if someone could go get one for me.

As I'm waiting for the girl to come back someone bumps into me. Since I'm not having a good morning I make a slight remark "watch where you're going it's not like your blind or something." He turns around looks at me "well if I was you would feel really bad right about now." he says with a big smirk as he starts to walk away. "Not really but whatever makes you feel better," I say as I turn to the lady walking towards me with the wheeled chair. 

I wheeled Nora up the fourth floor bit since covid-19 only one person can go back there with her. Sarah goes back with her while Mia and I go back to the first floor and wait. As I was sitting there watching Tik Tok's I hear Mia say "you he's cute Aria." I look up to see who she's talking about and there was the guy who bumped into me this morning. "Yeah I guess but he's kind of an ass," I say looking back down. I think I intrigued her because keeps on staring at me. "What," I say. She gives me the eye and says "don't play dumb Aria you know what I'm about to ask you why don't you just come clean." As I'm rolling my eyes "He bumped into me this morning didn't even apologize just gave this big smirk and said something douchey." she looks at me rolls her eyes again "I'm sure you can tame this one too. It's not like you have anything else to do." I chuckle a little bit "That's even if he would be interested plus Dominic wouldn't be so happy. You know how he gets." Dominic is my ex-boyfriend who is a bit crazy and thinks he owns me and no matter how many times I say we're over he still hasn't wrapped his head around it and likes to cause problems. 

"Aria I know damn right well that you don't give two f***s about what Dominic has to say about you with somebody new. You have already been with someone after him so why are you making excuses. Now if this is about what happened with Ben all you have to do is say so but don't lie to me I know you too well for that." "Yeah yeah. I don't care about Ben okay the only man I want in m life is my dad and I got no clue who or where that fucker is so looks like I'm all by my lonesome."

"I'm gonna go to the bathroom I'll be right back," I said as I was getting up from the couch. I'm looking at the signs to figure out where the bathroom is when I finally see it. As I'm walking out someone bumps into me. I look back and see it is the same guy as this morning. "Wow, maybe you need glasses or something because that's the second time today or you are doing it on purpose," I said trying not to laugh. He smiles "Sorry I'm a little bit lost and this morning I was late." "Where are you trying to go maybe I could help?" I say. "I'm looking for the children's cancer chemo area my little sister is up there and I can't seem to find it anywhere and my mom won't answer the phone," He tells me looking lost. "Oh well, actually I know where that is. I can take you if you want?" I say with a smile. He looks down at me "Oh that would be great thanks" walking into the elevator I'm trying to be quiet so it's not awkward but once the elevator opens I say "By the way, they may not let you back there with her since your mom is already back there because of covid" he looks at me like he questioning how I know that but doesn't say anything. "well it's right down that hall so here you are" I said as I'm walking away back to the elevator but he stops me "Thank you I've been roaming this place for two hours and didn't find my way here so thanks" he says. "No problem," I say smiling.

"Hey, what took you so long? you have been gone for like 15 minutes," Mia says walking up to me pregnant belly and all. I look at her forgetting about how long I was gone "oh yeah I was helping that guy to find his sister and mother. Turns out his little sister has cancer and he was lost" I said remembering the conversation we had. "oh that's sucks" she says. Then she smiles "but you talked to him that's a good start next thing you know y'all will be dating" I roll my eyes like is that all she thinks about. I was just being nice and helping him find his family. It's not like I'll see him again. 

**** (later that day)****

As we stand in the line to fill Nora meds my leg starts to hurt so I tell them I'm going to wait for them in the lobby. As I'm looking where to sit I see a chair that has no one by it so I make my way there. I feel like someone is watching me so I look up and see that guy again. "Take a picture it will last longer," I said smirking. He looks at me trying to play it off like he wasn't staring "I don't know what you're talking about" he says as he chuckles. "well since we seem to be bumping into each other a lot today I'm Aria" I say putting my hand out. "Liam it's nice to formally meet you," he says shaking my hand. I see my sister rolling towards the doors on her own so I get up to push her so she doesn't waste her energy. "well I have to go bye Liam" I get to my sister pushing her outside so we can go home and rest from this long day.
