I decided to skip school today and hide in my bedroom. Issy still went ahead, she wants to try and check on Josiah.
Her points were valid this morning but I cannot bring myself to make such a decision on a whim. Could I really reject my goddess given mate to be with his brother. I have not even given Alpha Drakos a chance.
Then again, he might not want a chance. He might turn around and reject me anyway. I am not strong enough to be a Luna.
I decide to take fate into my own hands. I will march down to Alpha Drakos’ office, reject him and tell Josiah I love him. That way, I will not have to be embarrassed when the Alpha rejects me.
I nod to myself and steel my shoulders as I march from my room. I make it to the Alphas door and hesitate a moment as doubt seeps in. I quickly shake my head and dismiss the doubt.
Without knocking I open the door and walk in.
“I-“ I begin but my words die when I take in the Alpha. He is shirtless. His glistening muscles on full display as he hits a punching bag.
He instantly stops at my intrusion and concern takes over.
“Hey,” he sounds surprised. “I was going to come and find you soon.”
Right. Probably to reject me. I tear my eyes away from his glorious abs and back to his face.
I turn to close the door and keep my back to him as I speak, this way he cannot distract me with his body.
“I just came by so we can get it over with.”
I hear the Velcro being undone on his boxing glove. “Get what over with?” He sounds genuinely curious.
“The- erm. Rejection.” The word is almost impossible to get out. My tongue feels heavy in my mouth. “I Cleo-“
A hand slaps over my mouth as Alpha Drakos’ body presses to mine. My eyes flutter shut as his hard body seals mine against the door.
“Please don’t say that,” his words are almost a growl. He inhales deeply against my neck and a groan follows. “You smell delicious.” He slowly removes his hand from my mouth and once he is confident I won’t say it he spins me to face him. He presses his body against my front now and heat surges through me. “I do not know what has been going on between you and my brother. I also do not care.” I open my mouth to speak but he places a finger there to silence me again. “But just so we are clear. You are mine Cleo. The goddess made us mates for a reason and I intend to honour that. If you give me a chance I will prove to you that I am worthy.”
My heart is beating so fast that I think it might explode out of my chest.
“Worthy?” I whisper the question.
He holds my intense gaze as he nods in confirmation.
My brows knit together in confusion. It is I who is unworthy of him.
“Will you give me a chance Cleo?” He says the words softer this time. His face inches closes and he rests his forehead on mine.
I swallow the lump in my throat as his hand slides up my tender neck. He squeezes a little as he waits for my reply. I give the only answer my mind is capable of forming right now.
“Yes.”
A glorious smile spreads across his face before his lips land on mine. My mind haywires as his warm mouth moves against mine. His hand is still firmly against my neck and my hands land on his biceps. His bare biceps.
Just as my mind wakes up and I respond to his kiss he pulls away.
“That’s my good girl.” He places a tender kiss to the tip of my nose and steps away. “I will have your belongings moved to my rooms.”
“No.” I blurt out before thinking.
He looks at me with a raised eyebrow.
“I wish to stay in my own room.” I confirm.
He nods in agreement. “Okay. For now. Can you at least tell me how you got a black eye?”
I hesitate a moment, “I- erm. My father, he…”
He nods, “Josiah was telling me about a girl being mistreated by her father. That was you?”
I look down at my feet in shame.
He grabs a towel off his desk and drapes it around his neck. “Let’s go.” He takes my hand in his and gestures to the door.
“Where?” I ask as he leads me from the room.
“I need to shower before I make an appearance at the school.” He starts leading me upstairs with him. “You will come with me to the school.”
“Okay. But I don’t think I need to come with you to shower” I squeak out.
He chuckles at that, “no. But my wolf is calmer when you are near. You can wait for me in my room. If that’s okay?”
“Oh, okay.”
