When it’s time for the announcement, Dylan kisses Caroline on the cheek and climbs onto the small stage. She stands next to me and I touch her arm when I feel the nervous energy wafting from her. I give her a smile and she leans in for a side hug. I watch Dylan’s face alight with happiness as he announces his Luna. The excitement and love in his voice make me smile wistfully. I push Caroline gently when it’s time for her to join him and clap for them both. I can feel my own mate’s stare again but I ignore it. I manage to avoid him and his Beta the rest of the gala.
