The Dragon Saviour

Chapter 4

Drake’s POV-

After King Robert called me up on stage, I felt a wave of nerves, but I held my head high and walked on to stage, as he stepped down. All my people had risen from their seats, eager to know what I had to say to them. I smiled, looking at the faces in front of me. My people all looked so much better than what they had done before we came, though they were evidently still tired. So, I knew I needed to keep this short.

“Now, I know you are all tired, so I am just going to keep you for a short while. Seeing as General Kenneth and I are the youngest King and General our people have ever known, I don’t want you to feel like we are not ready. So, I have decided that I will be creating a council. We will name it the Council of Elders. I have already decided who I want to have on this council. The function of the council will be to be the middle man, collect all the worries of the people and bring them to my attention, and decisions I have to make will be put forward to the council so that myself and future kings can get opinions from people within the council. The individuals I have selected are valued members of our society, and people whose opinions I admire greatly. Six people in total will be part of this council. I will call out your names and tell everyone why I have selected you. When I call your name, step forward. Magnus, I have selected you because you are the best intelligent, caring, and construction expert that I have ever met. Joel, Thaddeus, and Ophelia, you three are the most highly skilled warriors I have ever met, but each of you have done so much to train the younger generations and educate them in our ways. You all deserve to have your say in helping secure our future here with the Lycan people. Marcelo, you are the best historian our people have ever known. I know you will make sure that our people will head to the future but never forget the past or our ways, the ancient ways. Finally, Doctor Ambrose, you are the doctor for our people. You helped cure our people of that terrible disease. Your say in securing the health and wellbeing of our people in the future will be most crucial. Everyone, please remember that these dragons are the members of the council. Treat them with respect. Give them a round of applause,” I paused and began clapping.

Everyone joined in straight away, even King Robert was clapping, with a prideful glint in his eyes. That quenched any nerves left in my body, and allowed me to easily finish the rest of my speech. I stopped clapping, and began speaking once again, “Right, two final things, the council will meet after school on Monday, so if you have any urgent requests, please let myself, Kenneth, or any of the members before you, know before then. Finally, I want to say a big thank you to King Robert, his family, and his people, for doing all this for us. We as a people will make it up to you, and give thanks to you. If you could all say thank you to the Lycans, I would be most grateful. That is everything, so please go get some rest. I think we all need a good night's sleep. Good night, all.”

What happened next, I was not expecting. As I stepped down from the stage, I was swarmed by my people, each of them giving me a hug, saying thank you to me, before heading to bow in front of King Robert and Queen Violet and saying thank you to them. They all headed to leave. After that, they were going to retire for the night. It made me happy and feel like I had done a good job for my people, when they all approached me one by one to thank me and hug me.

Robert approached me, with a prideful smile on his face. He nodded, “You have taken well to being a King. Your decisions were well thought out. Your father would be proud. I would also like to inform you that tomorrow morning, I will be sending scouts to locate and find out what happened to your parents.”

“Thank you, Robert. That would put my mind at ease, so I can deal with matters here,” I replied.

Violet approached us, and said, “I had your bag and Kenneth’s bags taken to the rooms you had within the palace. As for the crates of documents etc., they have been taken to the royal archives, to be kept safe until your palace is built. You did that very well with your speech.”

“Thank you, Violet. Now, I think I may retire for the night. I am incredibly tired, I haven’t slept properly in months,” I replied, rubbing my chin.

My chin was starting to get ruff, I was starting to develop facial hair. Another thing I would have to learn, unless Elisa likes facial hair. Kenneth came to my side, after waving good bye to Dawn. She had fallen asleep in his arms, but had woken up to say goodbye and goodnight to him. He had a huge grin on his face.

“Well, Violet and I need to make sure things get sorted and packed away, but you and my children need your rest. I will have someone escort you back to the palace. Get some rest you both have earned,” Robert smiled.

I nodded and he nodded back, before walking off to attend to what they needed too. I turned to the stupidly grinning Kenneth, and said, “Someone is happy.”

“I know she fell asleep in my arms, and gave me a hug, wished me goodnight. It sounds so silly, but those small little things she did made me so happy,” he replied.

“Now you know how I feel when I am with Elisa,” I whispered.

Elisa and her brothers approached me at that point, with Beta Amelia, Gamma Felicity, and their children too. Elisa took my hand, and said, “Let’s go back to the palace. You did great with your speech, by the way.”

“Thank you, Elisa. I am glad I impressed you and your father. Are you excited about this feast party tomorrow,” I asked.

She nodded, “I asked for you to be able to have a seat next to me.”

“Good, because I was going to sit next to you one way or another,” I smirked, as she began pulling me towards the palace.

“Drake, how do you feel about going to school on Monday,” Elisa asked.

“Excited, actually. I was in school before this conflict with the vampires started, and yes, I will be excited to return to school, to get some normality back in my life. Something I want my people to have,” I replied.

“I can’t wait to get into bed,” Elisa yawned.

“Tired are we?”

She nodded, “Storm has been complaining in my mind since we had food.”

“Who the hell is Storm, and why is she in your head,” Kenneth interrupted.

Elisa burst out laughing, “Storm is the name of my Lycan, and she talks to me in my mind. It is what we Lycans can do when we get our Lycans, of course.”

“So, you are not born with your Lycans,” Kenneth asked.

“Nope, we normally get our Lycans when we reach our teens, but Elijah and I have been lucky enough to get our Lycans after we turned nine years old,” Elisa explained.

“Why did you get yours so young,” I asked.

Elijah smiled, “Probably something to do with the white Lycan blood within us. Besides Elisa and my mother, there are no other white Lycans. That is how rare they are.”

“Don’t you or your other brothers have a white Lycan,” Kenneth asked.

Elijah shook his head, “My Lycan is black, fully black. Our brothers haven’t had their Lycans yet, so there is no way of knowing what colour their Lycans will be, until they shift.”

“God, Lycans can be so confusing,” Kenneth chuckled.

“And, so can dragons, but it is fun to learn everything,” Elijah chuckled.

I could see those two becoming great friends. We kept walking towards the palace. We were almost there, and I was excited to finally get to bed. When we got to the palace, everyone headed off to their bedrooms. Elisa was still holding my hand the whole time. It really felt like she wouldn’t let go. If I am honest, I was hoping that she wouldn’t, but we had to sleep in separate rooms, so she had to at some point. I walked her to her room first. The moment we got there, she leant her back against her bedroom door. I turned to face her. Her Lycan’s eyes came out, so I let my dragon’s eyes come forth. Something I really shouldn’t have done.

I don’t know whether her Lycan, Storm, was in control, or whether Elisa herself was in control. But she gripped the back of my neck, and pulled me down to her. Our faces were inches away from one another, I could feel her hot breath on my face. I am sure she could feel mine. Then she moved her lips closer to mine, it was that moment that I couldn’t hold back anymore. I moved, placing my hands on her waist, and pressing my lips against hers. She felt unsure at first, and I was still fighting the urge to let go of my self-control. Our lips moved slowly and gently, as our eyes fluttered closed. My heart melted; this was our first kiss. I don’t know how long we were kissing like that, but we immediately pulled away, when we heard a cough beside us.

We turned to see Kenneth; he had been standing there the entire time. So much for a private moment. Elisa blushed, and I couldn’t help but smile at her. I turned back to her, and whispered, “That was amazing, now go get yourself some sleep. Goodnight Princess.”

I placed a kiss on her forehead, before she whispered, “Goodnight, Drake.”

She entered her room, and closed and locked the door behind her. I turned to see Kenneth smiling at me. We both turned to head to our rooms. I was still slightly stunned that Elisa and I had just shared our first kiss. God, things are just going to get harder now. I shouldn’t have let that happen.

“You might want to take a cold shower,” he chuckled, before running off to his room.

I looked down, and realised what he had seen. The raging hard on was evident in my trousers. Great. Now time, for several cold showers, before I could go to sleep. But even though I needed the cold shower, I was still over the moon with joy. My first kiss, with my mate. I was so happy at that moment.
