I push through the door, eyes scanning the busy café until they land on Jim. He is sitting in a corner, a steaming mug cupped in his hands. "Chloe," he greets me, voice low as I slide into the seat across from him. His eyes are sharp, two pieces of flint that spark with secrets. "Jim." My heart hammers against my ribs. I don't know why I am so nervous, as I did something wrong. "What do you have for me?" He leans forward, the lines on his face deepening with seriousness. "Axel's father, Adrian... I have some news for you." "Go on." "Adrian Jensen," Jim murmurs, glancing around before continuing, "he paints himself as a reputable businessman, right? But he's been behind bars. Fraud. Big time. Got out on good behavior, but everyone knows that kind's a leopard. Can't change their spots."
