18. Run Away

With adrenaline coursing through my veins, I sprint through the streets, my heart pounding in my chest as I try to outrun Axel. My feet pound against the pavement, and my breath comes out in ragged gasps. Finally, I find a small dark alley and duck behind a garbage can, hoping to evade my pursuer. The stench of rotting food and filth fills my nose, but it is better than being caught by Axel. I crouch down, listening for any sign of his approach. I shiver as the cold air hits me. I am not dressed appropriately for being out and about. God...what a mess this is! I didn't have the chance to pick up my purse when I made a run for it. So now, I am out here with no phone, no wallet. I am a f*****g i***t. I crouch behind the overflowing garbage can, my heart pounding in my chest. Every rust
