In comparison to how helpless Harold used to feel watching Leah being tortured without him doing anything to stop it, he now feels happy and excited at the prospect of being there for her and protecting her. Moving stealthily in the dense trees, he spots the girls seated on the brightly colored blanket, having their lunch in a clearing. Leah must not be grieving for her father that much if she has the appetite to eat. After all, who can blame her for the way she was neglected by her father.
