Chapter 8: Following Sky

Sammie POV (Sky’s Cousin)

I woke up as I heard a little sound of the door that is closing. I open my left eye and see who it was. I look around and saw Naomi and Jess, sleeping. There is one missing, Sky! There’s no Sky sleeping.

Wait, no Sky? OMG! I immediately woke Naomi up. Oh no. it might be happening again. No! not again. Maybe we still have enough time to follow her.

"Mimi," I tap Naomi's shoulder. "Mimi! wake up. It's an emergency."

As I frenetically wake her up.

I call Naomi ‘Mimi’ Cause I am having a hard time calling her. I always shortened the name of my friends when I find it long enough to pronounce or if I am lazy to call them.

"What is it?" she answers me half awake.

"Sky..." as I tell her the name, she bolted up as if I am telling her that she's late to our most terror subject teacher.

"Is it happening again?" she asks.

"Yes. Let's follow her, maybe we can still catch her up,"

I put my jacket on, still on my pajama.

"What are we going to ride? Motor or car?" Mimi asks as she hurriedly wears her jacket and gets the keys. Her keys were a mix of anything, like door keys, bathroom keys, car, and motor keys.

"Hmm. If we use the motor, and something bad happens again to mina, we can't carry her on--"

"Okay, a car it is." I cut her words. We need to be fast.

We saw Sky at the bus stop. Where is she heading this time? We followed the bus and focused on it whenever the bus stops, there might be Sky in the crowd. As we go on, I silently praying that it won't happen again, and hopefully, we're not that late to catch and help her up this time. If it happens again, Momo will be mad at me. She asks us to guide Mina.

"There." Naomi pointed at Sky. She finds a spot to park the car.

"Hey, how can we follow her up?" I ask her as she stops the car near 7/11.

"Stupid, what if she notices our car? We should follow her silently."

She said as she unbuckles her seatbelt and moves out of the car. We follow mina as we walk faster, more like running and hiding somewhere just for her not to notice us.

"Wait, I have a plan. I'll wait for you in the car and you follow her." Naomi suggested.

"Why?" I asked.

"So you can Just call me when she did something. If that happens, I can go and drive you up to where you are." Naomi explains.

Hmm, that's a nice plan.

"Okay." I agreed.

Naomi comes back to where the car parks and I continue to follow Mina. She stops at a house. Huh? Who's house is that? She climbs up on the gate until she reaches the window and slowly enters there. Oh My gosh! I need to tell this to Naomi. I dialed her number, three more rings can be heard, and then she answered.

"What happened?" she answers with her husky voice, it’s obvious that she fell asleep.

"Hey! What took you so long to answer?" I angrily said in a whisper.

"Sorry, I fell asleep," She confess.

"Aishh! Anyway, quick update! Mimi, Mina entered in somebody’s house," I said

"What? What do you mean? Who’s house?" She ask

"Uhh.. she trespasses a house here and climbs up to the window. I don’t know who’s house is this." I said.

"wait... are you familiar with that house?"

"No. But there is 'Bailey residence' written on the gate" I said to her.

"Bailey?? Who is that? Wait.. don't tell me--" Naomi said.

"Mimi, Mina's here outside, it looks like she's waiting." I said.

"Hmm okay. I'll start the engine." I heard the engine of the car, starting.

"Mimi, she enters and rides the car. Hurry, let's follow them." I said. Still in-call with Naomi.

"Okay. Wait. I'll be there real quick!"

2 minutes have passed and I saw Naomi's car approaching me. We followed the car where Mina is. Suddenly, I was about to take a nap but Naomi shouted at me.

"Hey! Don't fall asleep. I might fell asleep too," She said.

"Mimi, what if we stop first and buy some coffee?" I asks. I really want to sleep. I badly needed to fell asleep.

"What if, we lost track of them? I didn't wake up in the middle of the night just to end up regretting." She said.

"Fine," I said in defeat and pouts.

"If you want to stay awake or if you're hungry, get some food at the back." She said

Huh? I look at the backside of the car. Wow, there is a lot of food and even coffee.

"I thought that maybe, it'll take us hours just by following mina, so I bought us food to eat and coffee for us to stay awake,"

"Wow, Mimi! You're the best."

I ate the chips that I pick and drink some coffee. I also made sure that she will have some too.

The car stops at a big building. Hmm... what is this place? Mina and the girl enters the building.

Who is she? I never saw Mina talking to others. As we see them enter the building, we followed.

"Wait, who are you? The building is close, come back tomorrow morning if you want." the guard said.

"We are with them." I cutely said to him. Pointing Mina and the girl.

"If you really are with them, who are they? Tell me their name."

"Uhh. The girl's name is Mina and the small one’s name is... uhh"

"Heaven. Heaven Bailey. The daughter of the owner in this company. He told us to tell you that if you block our way, we'll just tell you her name. and by the way, we have shooting tonight, the theme is a ghost story, that is why we're here." Naomi reason out.

Mimi just did a great job. The guard thinks she's telling the truth.

"Is that so? Where's your camera?" he ask, doubtful.

"Heaven told us not to bring a camera because she have one here." Wow, Mimi is really great at acting, or most likely, she's great being a liar. Hahaha!

"Oh. Okay. Go on the rooftop. You are prohibited to enter the rooms and offices in the building, only the rooftop are available here late at night."

"Thank you," I said to the guard. Wow, that was awesome. He really believe us.

But! Wait, That girl is not familiar to me, how did she knew her?

"Wait, Mimi, how did you know her name?" I look at her as we enter the elevator.

"Well, it's simple. She's the best friend of the great ostrich."

"Huh?" confuse. That is written on my face.

"She's Axel’s friend." She said as we enter the elevator.

"Oh... your number one enemy? Hahaha," That’s why! We reach the rooftop but no one can be seen in here.

"Where are they?" She asks me. As we walk around, the rooftop's door opens. It reveals Mina and that girl.

"hide." Naomi drag me somewhere to hide. But before I positioned myself, I stumble and fall.

"ouch."

"Yahh. Shhh. Be careful will you?"

"uhh. Sorry." But still, my knee hurts. We look at the two, they are staring at the city lights.

"Do you hear them?" I ask Mimi.

"Do you think we can possibly hear them? Especially Mina? She's like murmuring when she talks."

We call sky as Mina, since she’s our cousin. It’s her nickname in the family.

"Yeah. So let's just eat and drink coffee while watching them on mute. Like watching in cinema but they forgot to put a sound."

I receive a death glare from her.

"What? I am just stating the truth." I look back at them, I saw Mina's crying. Oh nooo.. is it happening again? As I am about to run closer to Mina, the girl hugs her. Then Mimi pulled me over.

"Look at her. I think she found someone she can lean on. Someone, she can be her shoulder to cry on..." she said “Other than us.” Naomi’s eyes were fixed on them.

I just look at them. Yeah, she’s right. Before, we were so afraid when Mina's on IT again. I and Momo will sleep late just to watch Mina. I remember, when Mina…

"Come on. Let's go home."

"Huh? How about Mina? We're leaving her?" I was about to reminisce those days when Mina had a panic attack and trauma. But Naomi cut me.

"Yes. I guess she's fine with her." She said.

“Hmm okay..” We drive our way home. As Mimi parks her car, she headed her way to her bed not minding if she still wears a jacket. I remove my jacket and was about to lie down when someone talks to me.

"Where have you been?" it is Jess.

"Mina." I know she understands what I mean.

"What? Where is she? What happened this time?" obviously, Jess is furious. She also knows mina's story.

"She'll be home. Wait for her. I'll go to sleep. We'll tell you the story tomorrow or maybe later? We haven’t slept properly last night. Goodmornight to you, Jess" I yawn and close my eyes.

"she's okay, don't overthink yourself, we make sure that she's fine before we left her." Naomi said.

I heard Naomi said that. I smile while drifting off to sleep. Finally, Mina has someone she can open up with, other than us.
