Chapter 3: I know

Heaven's POV

The next day~

I am still undecided wether I should accept the bet or not. After lunch, Cara told me that our subject teacher was absent, same with the next subject after that. So we have 3 hours vacant period. Since I have a lot of spare time, I decided to go to the library. There's a strict rule in this school stating that we can't go out even during our vacant time. So, I use to spend my time in the library. It's the quietest place you could go if you want to sleep, and that's what I'm gonna do.

I went to the farthest and more secluded corner of the library where the old books are located. Those books were rarely picked by the student for reading or studying, so I should be undisturbed until my spare time was up.

Because the place I was in was more secluded, It'll be more comfortable for sleeping. I was about to fall asleep when I felt someone sat in front of me. Oh, maybe I'm not the only one who knows this place. I looked over to see who it was, but her face was covered by the book she was reading. Hmm, maybe it was just a random nerd girl who likes to read classical old books.

"Don't you know that the library is for reading or studying and not for sleeping?"

Woah. Her voice gave me the chills. It's scary. Is she the librarian? I suddenly sit up straight and openned a random book that I got, and started reading it. Err... More like pretending to read it.

"Rule number 1. Make her smile."

what the? what did she say? did she just mention rule number 1 of the bet? how did she even know that?

"It's one of the rules I've heard yesterday.." she said and then puts down the book that she was reading.

"Ms. Heaven Rain Bailey"

I…I..it's Sky! If I'm not mistaken, I think I look pale now. It's like my soul was suck out of my body. I suddenly felt nervous, my hands were shaking, and I feel like my blood suddenly runs cold and sweats were starting to form on my forehead and neck. In short, I felt shivers down my spine. It felt like I'm about to piss myself at this very moment, though I know I won't. Now I understand why everybody is afraid of her. She gave me a bored look with her ever present poker face.

"Are you scared of me now?" she speaks again. Her voice is so cold, it give me the chills.

"Er.. let... Uhm.. let me explain?" I don’t know why I was so scared when I didn't even do anything wrong. I mean, I haven’t even agreed to that bet yet, but from the way she makes it seem, makes me feel like I've already said yes to it.

"I'm not asking for an explanation. Ms. Heaven." She said..

Her calling by my first name was a lot scarier than when she mentions my full name.

"uhh.." geez she's scary as hell! I think I just swallowed my tongue.

"Guilty much?"

"I haven't even agreed to it yet. I'll tell him later that I'm not doing it. I promise," I said in panic. I felt my lips quiver.

"Why? don't it sound interesting to you huh?" she said still maintaining her poker face and a blank stare which makes it a lot scarier.

"Err... because I don't want to die?" my brain is not functioning well too. It felt like she'll kill me right at this moment here in this secluded spot where no one will even see my corpse until I stink from rotting. Just the thought of it makes me want to run away from her while screaming bloody murder.

"HA HA HA" even her laugh. Gosh! It sounds scary. She didn't look happy at all. It was more of a sarcastic laugh, or should I say sadistic? She slammed her hands on the table, making me flinch away from her. I think I just did the worst move of my life, because she's now towering over me looking murderous. I think i'm about to say goodbye to this world. I closed my eyes, waiting for my death to come to me.

"No. Agree to that bet." She whispers. I slowly opened my eyes still scared of her.

"W…what?" I asked cautiously.

"Accept the bet. Let's pretend I didn't hear anything."

That was the longest sentence she said.

"Are you nuts?" I ask.

"What?!" she answered

"I mean, are you sure?" I replied scared from her sudden outburst.

"Of course…not" she said as she slowly leans back to her chair making breathe from relief.

"Oh, ahhm... I know that you might be thinking I'm not a good person for even considering that bet or that I'm like some other ass**les out there who enjoys breaking a girl's heart, even if I was a girl too but that's not true. I'm not like that at all. I just –" I said hurriedly.

"You're right! You are NO different from other stupid Bisexual girls I saw and met, so stop explaining. You'll just waste both of our time."

She emphasizes the "NO" word. Aishh like I've said I haven’t even agreed to that bet yet, but I was already being criticized for it. How could she accused me of being the same as the others?

When from the very beginning, I was already disagreeing to it, knowing that I'll be hurting someone's feelings, not to mention It is not an easy feat considering her reputation at school. How much more now that she already knows about it.

"But..." she continued.

"but?". I looked at her. Hmm, her eyes didn't change. It was still empty. There's no hint of emotions to it.

"Like what I've said earlier. I'll act like I don't know about the bet, and you'll accept it and would continue accomplishing it."

"Huh? Why?" I asked. Does she have a screw loose?

"I've heard that you'll receive a benefit from that bet, so in exchange you'll help me." She said

"Help you in what?" I replied.

"I need a person who will help me in finding my brother's missing game." She said with seriousness in her voice.

"Missing Game? What game?" What is she talking about?

"Yep. A video game." She said

"okay?” I pretended that I understand her “And what does it have to do with the bet?"

"I've heard that the guy you were talking to will give you whatever you want and need, right? You'll just have to give me a share, well more like it's an acting fee."

"What?" Wow, this is ridiculous. What kind of situation is this?

"I know you're not that stupid or ignorant to understand what I'm trying to say. I've already explained it, so please process it faster with your brain." She said coldly.

"Sorry," I said.

"The share that I'll get from the bet will be the payment for the game that I needed." She said

Wait, why is she so interested at the benefit of the bet when in fact, she can just ask money from her parents? I mean… I know every students here in Celestine Academy is from a rich family, and she's one those student. Well, unless you're a scholar, but even though you’re just a scholar, the school still gives you a huge amount of allowance every month.

"Okay?"

"For now, you'll be the one paying for the game, but I'll lessen its amount after you've gotten that allowance, and payed for my fee." She said. I was surprised.

"Umm, you said earlier that it was missing. So where do we find it? And why would we buy it if we were just looking for it?" I asked. She just looks at me sharply.

"I already found it. We'll meet later after school. You should come with me and pay for it," she said in a serious tone. Wow. This girl really! aish. She's driving me crazy. She's definitely weird and low key insane.

She was about to leave when...

"Before I forgot. No one should know about this. It'll be our little secret, if anyone else have known about it, you best prepare yourself from what's about to come." she threatens and then walks away.

What the.... Jesus she's really scary. Is she a spawn of satan? or have she already dethroned satan? because if she did, I wouldn't be so surprised. This will be the first time I'll be keeping a secret to Axel.

Even after she left, I was still left thinking about what she'd said. Do I need to prepare a to-do-lists to fulfill so that when I die, I won't be regretting it because I've already done all the things that I want? Aish! I'm overthinking again. I know deep down she's kind (hopefully) and maybe she has a soft side(maybe?)... right?

Yeah. That's right Heaven. Think positive! She's different from the other girls. She's a diamond but a black one. Ugh! I'm starting to loose my mind. I must go somewhere to distract myself.

I know I sound crazy and scared but who wouldn't be afraid? Considering her not so good reputation at campus, not to mention that she knew about the bet. And now, she wanted me to accept it and use it for her advantage.

I am scared, confused and bothered considering that the bet is all about her, and worst of all is that I have to make her fall in love with me and then break her heart. If that wasn't bad enough, I don't know what else is. She even wanted me to keep it a secret from everybody, that also includes my best friend, and I've never kept a secret from him, not even once especially not as big as this one and we'll be basically secretly rob him off from the benefits he promised I'll get from that stupid bet. It's getting more and more complicated! Ugh never mind.
