Chapter 16 birthday surprise

  Brandon’s P.O.V

  When we got to the gym I had her do leg lifts and squats, working her legs and strengthening them. After an hour of that I decided that we would spar and I was glad to see that she was getting better, she learned just as fast too. I could see that she was starting to get muscles in her legs and arms, making her even more attractive and she was even hitting the punching bag much harder than when she first started training. She was almost ready for her first fight and I was counting down the days to find out what the result would be. If she won then she would get to live,  but if she lost then I would shun her and throw her into the woods with the rogues. We carried on training and although I said four hours, I looked at the clock and saw that it had actually been nearly five hours.

  “Alright, that's enough for today. We actually ran a little over, but oh well, it all helps.” I said, watching her scowl at me for how long I had made her train. 

  “Come on, we need to get you in the shower to cool down. Also Kidz has put together a small birthday party for you out in the backyard, so when the moon rises you and I will walk out into the middle of the woods and you can shift there.” I said and she nodded. We walked back to the pack house and straight up to my bedroom, as it was already getting late.

  Carla’s P.O.V

  When we got into the bedroom I quickly ran to the bathroom, locking the door behind me. I wanted to shower alone this time and just let the hot water relax my muscles, but I couldn't do that when he was in front of me naked because all I wanted to do was jump him. I heard him laugh as I turned on the water and got in, washing all of the dirt and sweat off me and standing under the water for a few minutes, trying to relax.

  “Listen very carefully, when the moon rises you will only have twenty minutes to get into the middle of the woods before the shift begins. Don't worry though because you have been training it might not be as painful.” Kayla said, as I turned the water off and got out of the shower.

  “I hope it won't be painful at all, but I know that's just wishful thinking.” I replied, nervously laughing. I dried off and walked back into the bedroom, grabbing a sundress that I didn't really care for, so if it ripped during my shift I wouldn't mind. I put the sundress on and brushed my hair, deciding to leave it down over my shoulders, then I applied a small amount of make-up. I only put lip gloss and eyeshadow on because I really wasn’t one for it, so I didn't bother with everything else.

  Brandon’s P.O.V

  I laughed when she locked the bathroom door behind her and went to the other room to shower and get ready, but when I came back in she was just getting dressed. I watched her get ready, knowing that she was going to do great at the party this week.

  “Ready to go downstairs? You don't have to wear shoes, but take some flip flops with you for when we walk into the woods and after you shift. When you feel ready to shift just take your sundress off and it won't get ripped.” I said, looking her up and down. She nodded and we walked downstairs. 

  “Who is coming to this party?” Carla asked, making me laugh.

  “I am assuming the rest of the pack, Kidz organised it, so I’m not really sure. You will be introduced to them tonight.” I replied and heard her sigh. Had I said something wrong or was it just because she was nervous? When we made it outside the whole pack was there and they all cheered and sang happy birthday to her, thankfully Kidz had the good sense to tell them her name otherwise it would have been really awkward. There were only three people that knew about Carla, myself, Kidz and Eppes, but none of the others knew about her because I had kept her hidden away. They started whispering amongst themselves, talking about how they didn't even know she was here and that was the way I wanted it. I walked to the front and raised my hands, making everyone fall silent.

  “Hello my family. Yes, I have hidden her away, but now I would like to introduce her. She is going to be our fighter for the next four fights and after that she will be free to go if she wishes. If she chooses to stay then she will be your mafia Luna, so treat her with respect.” I announced and as they heard this they all cheered and clapped for her.

  Carla’s P.O.V

  I was so overwhelmed with how huge of a pack this was and how welcoming they were, then they sang happy birthday to me again, making me smile and blush at the amount of attention I was receiving. Some of the pack members came up to me and gave me gifts, which surprised me seeing as I didn't know any of them. I got a pair of earrings, a necklace and some make-up.

  “Thank you, thank you so much. It's very kind of you to do this.” I replied to each of them, smiling. We cut the large three tier cake and ate, then as the night went on we joked around, got to know each other and some even danced. I looked at everyone around me, looking for one person in particular and when I spotted him I made a bee line for him.

  “Hey, I wanted to say thank you for organising all of this.” I said, tapping Kidz on the shoulder. He turned around to face me, smiling and pulled me into a hug.

  “You deserve it. I know it's been a big adjustment, but you are handling it all perfectly.” Kidz replied, making me smile. I spoke to him for a few minutes and then went over to the table to get a drink. Soon the sun was starting to set and I knew that as soon as the moon rose in the sky I wouldn't have long.

  “Carla, we need to get to some place now, so we won't harm anyone when we shift.” Kayla said, confusing me.

  “What do you mean? I thought we had until the moon was in the sky.” I replied, but felt her uneasiness.

  “No, we need to go now, it's happening soon.” Kayla said, panicking slightly.

  “Okay, stay calm, Kayla. I’ll go tell Brandon.” I replied and turned from the table, looking in the crowd for him. I spotted him talking to another pack member, who I think is called Garth and hurried over to him. Just as I reached him he turned around smiling at me, but his smile quickly faded when he saw the look on my face.

  “What's wrong? Did something happen?” Brandon asked and I shook my head.

  “My wolf Kayla says we need to get somewhere fast. It's almost time to shift and I only have twenty minutes before it happens.” I replied and Brandon nodded before turning back to face the pack. Everyone turned to look at him, as if sensing that he had an announcement or something.

  “We will be back soon, every one of you knows that when you have your first shift you need to leave because the pack is in danger. Well this is Carla’s first shift. I know you will want to come and help, but I am telling you all to stay away. We will be back soon, I promise.” Brandon announced and they all nodded. Brandon took my hand and started walking fast, heading straight to the woods.
