“Ah the secret artist finally reveals himself,” Tula said gleefully, taking Janet's surprised expression. “You painted that?” Janet asked in awe, looking at Nick in a completely new light. “You…you majored in art?” Janet asked incredulously, looking as if someone had told her that pigs could fly. Nick gave Janet a rueful smile and rubbed the back of his neck. “It was better than public administration,” Nick muttered shrugging his shoulders and turning to pull Janet away from the painting but Janet held her ground, pulling her arm out of his grip as she stared at painting again. She could feel his affection for his mother literally radiating out of the paitning. It was in every stroke of his paintbrush, in the soft curves of her smile as she looked out at them. Her son had loved her.
